It's My Two Year Blogiversary, Already? Seriously?

Man, I can't believe it has been two years, already. It doesn't feel like it has been that long at all. o_O Welp, in keeping with last year's tradition, I'll share some of my favorite outfits from the past year. <3

Those of you who watched my video back in August will not be phased by this outfit. Haha. There's no way I could possibly scare you after that and I guess this is a good thing, because now I've freed you up so you can look past the scare factor and give more attention to aesthetic details. Yeah...that's it. ;D Now, for people who don't know me (including people walking by on the street), the fright factor was high and it was pretty glorious. Haha. I feel like I've been waiting forever to do this kind of style.

The Minimalist Style Challenge I did back in June had a palpable impact on my clothing choices. If you look at the kinds of outfits I put together after the challenge ended, you'll see that I made deliberate efforts to do more with less. When you're thinking about how to wear the least amount of items with the most aesthetic impact for an entire month, that way of thinking is bound to stick around for awhile.

I got a little worried though, because layering is what I love to do and what some people would say that I do best. I didn't want to lose that part of myself and I thought I almost had until today. So, it's nice to know that I've still got it, so to speak. Hehe. The fact that it's getting colder really helps. I don't normally pay much attention to the weather when I get dressed. I defy Gaia regularly, but I'll take any excuse to pack on the layers and summer didn't provide many opportunities. Anyway, let's talk about what I did!

So I started with a sleeveless white asymmetrical dress and I wore it backwards. :D I wanted the sheer overlay to appear on the opposite side of me. To see better views of the dress, click here. I did a futuristic look with it in that post. Here, I wore a collared sleeveless blouse underneath for color contrast and to give the illusion that the top was part of the dress. I added a black sleeveless high low top so that the white overlay would show in the front and only darkness would be seen from the back.

I've gotten so much wear out of this high low top. It's a fantastic layering tool and I'll probably continue to wear it until I'm too old and frail to get it over my head. Haha. Click here and here to see a couple different ways that I've styled the high low top in the past. I made a point of showing you all sides of my outfit so you can see how it is perceived by onlookers based on their position. People walking behind me will have a different experience from people approaching me head on. I love doing this kind of thing.

The galaxy tights helped to break up the black and white scheme and add complexity of color. I finished the outfit with some menacing color changing sunglasses, my favorite pair of buckled, zippered ankle boots, a faux leather jacket and an edgy fringe bag with gold braided handles. I wore this outfit downtown for coffee, cakes and good conversation. :D So, I brought my laptop, a book and some other stuff and threw all of that in my crazy zipper eye canvas bag. Also, I figured the canvas bag would send people over the edge and make them pass out from all of the fear or something. I don't know. Haha.

I'm not sure if my explanation of what I did was straight forward or confusing, but I plan to do a tutorial for this outfit later in the year, so you'll see how I put everything together step by step. I also have an even more complex outfit that I will do using the white asymmetrical dress as a foundation. There will be more layers and textures. It'll be awesome! I have to wait for it to get a little bit colder, though. So, I might not wear that outfit until November/December. I'll do a tutorial for that one, as well. ^_^

I loved every minute of wearing this outfit. I'm really proud of it, so if you have any criticisms, I would ask that you wrap them in pancakes with sprinkles and maple syrup before serving them to me. Haha.
