Just mildly scaring the good people of Toronto. Nbd. I was feeling dark and twisty. Also, I felt like I hadn't done a straight up "weird" outfit in awhile. Being cooped up and studying day-in and day-out has severely affected my mojo. I barely have time to think about interesting clothing combinations or to give thought to what pieces in my wardrobe aren't getting enough wear, so I can breathe new life into my closet. It has been getting really hard to even make it outside, these days. So, I had to do something.
I was more nervous than usual about wearing this outfit. I'm no stranger to wearing dark, edgy, properly scary outfits. It's just the reactions I've gotten in outfits that I personally considered to be quite "normal, but interesting," made me think twice about wearing this outfit, since it's clearly outside the scope of what people in this town are used to seeing. Heh. I know I could have pushed it even farther, but I held back, because of that reaction factor. In hindsight, I regret letting the prospective feelings of others dictate how I sculpted my outfit. I'm still trying to get a feel for what people are like around here.
In the end, heads turned, as to be expected, but no one balked. So, that's a good sign. Heh. Honestly, I don't think this outfit is that out of the ordinary, at all. I toned it down a lot and kept it simple with a black bell sleeved sweater tucked into a high-waisted pencil skirt. I wore my black fringe poncho as a chunky scarf and then added the brightly coloured leggings and fringe bag for more colour and texture.
Ultimately, I got to be all dark and twisty, but without managing to scare people and get arrested or something. I don't know. Haha. There seem to be a lot of uptight people, here. It's getting to me, but I'm going to just try to stay true to my own personal aesthetic, while respecting certain boundaries. :P
