In Her Dark Shadow (Barely There Challenge!) - Part 4/9

Back to regularly scheduled programming! :D Honestly, this isn't that scary. I could see someone freaking out if I came around a corner on the sidewalk and ran into him/her. But I mean, if I saw someone wearing this outfit in the middle of downtown I would just think: 'Oh you don't see that everyday. Wicked!' Hehe. I hope people watchers got some good viewing material, at least. ^_^

So, there isn't much to this outfit. I'm wearing a dress. Blah. Stupid challenge! Haha >_< It's a single garment, though, so I'm wearing the least possible number of pieces. :D To jazz things up a bit, I wore my favorite steampunk specs and some neon socks (and of course there's a colorful backdrop, too!)

Also, you'll notice that I'm not wearing a single piece of jewelry. This is pretty normal for me. Generally, I have to consciously remember to add a bauble or two to my outfits. Other times, there are outfits that just really need that little something extra and I automatically know what needs to be added. In this case, though, I wanted to accentuate the minimalist aspect of the outfit by keeping it very clean.

Earlier this year I won a Style Contest held by Threadless. My prizes included a gift certificate to Sock It To Me. So, I bought several pairs of socks including these babies. I knew I'd be able to do some neat things with them and I don't think I've ever worn neon, so I was like yeah f*ck it, just buy them. Hehe. They're super comfortable and soft. Great quality! I wear these black slotted ankle booties at least once a week. I've become quite smitten with them. They're just perfect. The only thing I'm noticing so far is that the faux leather is quite delicate. I hope it can stand constant wear, because I feel like these are the only shoes of this type that I'll ever need.

Oh and I just want to point out a couple things about this black maxi dress. First off, it's a ModCloth piece and I got it through my swap group. Yay! Second, it's sophisticated as hell. It looks so simple, but it has a subtle complexity and elegance due to the sheer angular fabrics. It's a very smart garment and I think it's the perfect piece to showcase minimalist style. I've worn the dress twice already, but I layered up a lot each time so the dress was cleverly hidden. Click here and here to see two additional ways to style it. It was 80 degrees and sunny, but I felt quite comfortable. The dress is so breathable that the heat really didn't phase me. So, yeah. In your face, Helios! >=|~ ~ Haha. Have a great weekend, folks! <3
