A few weeks ago, I wore this layered up ensemble. Lots of attention to detail and care went into this outfit. So, I thought I'd let you know step-by-step how I put it all together. You guys, ready? :D
STEP 1: OK. So, I rolled two steps into one here, but I mean who wants to see just a lace bodysuit on a mannequin? Haha. As you can see, I wore the bodysuit underneath my thrifted white dress. That asymmetrical overlay is fantastic and the main reason why I bought the dress in the first place. ^_^
STEP 2: So, as things stand, what I've got is...not that impressive. Hehe. So, I added a black pleated high low skirt. Now, things are starting to look up! :D I probably could have gotten away with stopping there, but I felt like I could be even more creative. I wanted to add a little more texture and contrast.
STEP 3: So, I pulled my thrifted buttoned shrug over the entire outfit and voila! F*cking radtastic. :D Now, I've got rippled fabric on one side, contrasting smooth fabric on the other side, sheer lace peeking through at the wrists and chunky knit fabric on top. The view from all sides looked pretty rad, too!
How my outfit looks from every angle is of utmost importance, especially when I do super layered up looks like this one. For me, it's just a part of the "art show," so to speak. I want on-lookers to get different feelings depending on their viewpoint. Here you can see how the outfit looks from the back.
STEP 4: I put on a double breasted black coat, because it was pretty chilly. :D And that's basically it!
I carried all of my loot in this silver studded backpack. I had other black bags I could have used, but this one held the most stuff and it added some edginess to the look. I finished everything off with faux leather zipper leggings, bright blue tights underneath and reflective sunglasses for pops of color.
I've noticed that my layered up looks tend to be dark monochrome. Heh. I'm going to see what I can do to change that. Obviously, I wanted these looks to have a darkness to them. It's hard to be mysterious in bright colors. >_< I'll see what I can do about creating more colorful, layered up outfits. :D
