You guys, ambrosia is pretty gross. I've never eaten it, but I don't think I have to have had the misfortune of ingesting it to know that it's gross. Just looking at it is enough. Well...that and also knowing what's in it. It's a fruit salad abomination that can include nuts, maraschino cherries, whipped cream, sour cream, cream cheese, cottage cheese, even marshmallows. I was watching Top Chef one night and there was a challenge where the cheftestants had to put a modern spin on crappy food from the 1950s-1970s. Thanks to Top Chef, I became familiar with the horror that is ambrosia. :F~
*sheds a single tear* I am...scarred for life. I will say that the colors represented in the salad can be quite pretty. Appetizing? No. Pretty. Yes, possibly. Heh. It is those colors that I saw when I found this vintage hand-made sweater at Little Miss Vintage Three on Etsy. You guys know how much I love weird sweaters, so of course I had to have this one with its colorful array of fruits and flowers. :D
I used the sweater as the foundation and built my outfit around it. I think the brown scarf, olive hat, light brown boots, orange high waisted shorts and yellow coat nicely compliment the sweater.
I don't think that there is a particular garment that stands out. The colors work together harmoniously.
Did I just sort of pat myself on the back, because I put colors together in a more or less unoffensive way? o_O Oh my Zeus. *ahem* Well. Moving on. Heh. You might recognize these high waisted shorts. I had them for sale in my Storenvy shop! People were adding the shorts to their love lists, but a year went by and no one bought them. I was pretty shocked. They were new with tags and too big in the waist on me. Every day that I had these shorts killed me, because I loved them. The sooner I could sell them, the better. However, as you can see, I got tired of waiting. I broke down and got them tailored. Now, they fit me perfectly and I can't imagine my closet without them. Consider the tags snipped. :P
Oh and one other thing you might have noticed: what is up with my tights, bro? o_O I wore a lighter pair of tights underneath for a frosty/ombre effect. Neat, huh? :D As much as I wanted to avoid adding black to this outfit, I kind of had to. However, to make up for it, I did this trick to lighten up the color. ^_^
