Today's ensemble is comprised of studs, folds, pleats, asymmetry and lace. My favorite things, basically. Hehe. I threw in some deep plum just to add a bit of color against the smoky hues.
This outfit is more complex than it looks, but I will post a step-by-step tutorial. So, I won't hash every detail out, right now. In the photos below, you'll see that I'm wearing a sweater underneath what appears to be a short skirt. What you don't see, however, is that I'm wearing a collared blouse and a lace floral maxi skirt underneath the sweater. I hiked up the skirt over my chest like a tube dress and then pinned part of the hem to the upper thigh to create asymmetric folds. Then, I tucked all three garments into a black, pleated high low skirt. Click here to see a full view of the lace skirt.
I wore both skirts because I liked the mix of textures. Also, I wanted to show off the patterned tights, so that's why I hiked up the lace maxi skirt as much as I did. Usually, it's floor length if I don't wear heels.
At the front of the outfit, you see some pleated folds and lace fabric curiously slipping through. At the sides, you see more textured lace as well as the ripples of the smooth high low skirt. In the back, you see nothing but smooth, black folds. I tried to create an outfit that was interesting from all angles.
It has been forever since I've worn these black patterned tights. I guess I just have a lot of patterned tights? Heh. I don't know why I overlook these. Click here to see how I last wore them. To breathe some new life into the tights (and add an extra layer of warmth), I wore a pair of maroon tights underneath.
