Sweet As Apple Pie

Hey! WTF, bro? I know. You were expecting something crazy/scary and instead I wore another cute outfit. Haha. Sorry, man. It just wasn't in the cards, this time. Plus, I gotta keep you on your toes. Hehe. You never know when I'm going to strike! ;D~ ~ ~ So, this apple dress may look familiar to some of you, because I wore it as a blouse underneath overalls. I told myself that I was doing you all a grave injustice by covering up the dress in that way, so here is the full dress in all of its glory. Take it all in, folks. Take it allllll in. o_O O_o <3 Speaking of ogling, this man on a bike rode by on the street next to this very sidewalk I'm standing on and gave me the squintiest eyes I had ever seen. It was disconcerting. I mean, he looked angry almost. Hehe.

My partner thought the guy was going to run into a parked car, because of the way he kept looking back at me. o_O. About maybe 5-10 minutes later, he ending up riding back. I was geared up for round two of crazy eyes. However, this time the guy yelled, "I like her style!" as he rode away. I thought, 'Oh, whew! I thought that guy was going to stab me or something.' *^_^* People are weird, you guys. Haha.

By the way, that frilly black lace fabric below the dress is the hem of a skirt that I wore underneath. For some reason, I just didn't like the bare look of the dress and I wanted some extra coverage. I could have worn shorts underneath, but I thought the lacy skirt would do the same job and look nicer. ^_^

So, where did I go on this fine, sunny day? Just a walk to get coffee. Yup! Haha. My partner and I took the long, scenic route and ended up running into a festive block party on the way. Just goes to show that you don't need a lot of money to have fun. You can have an adventure just by stepping outside and picking a direction. The walk is free, but a pair of squinty eyes following you will cost extra. ;P

Me, too! I hate being able to wear something only one or two times. I always feel like I wasted my money when that happens. Haha. I have a rather crazy style in mind for this dress, but it may involve going to the tailor to get something adjusted..... ;D We'll see...

Haha, right on. Yeah, things have been a little too sweet, lately. I definitely need to mix it up. I'm thinking the darker styles will start to show up around Fall when I can pack on the layers without people looking at me strangely. ;D

That squinty eye story is priceless. How we internalize that he doesn't like what we're wearing and even wants to "stab you" and then in the end he just likes your style! A few lessons can be learned from that I think ; )

Ahh, I guess there's a lot I haven't really explained, because I don't want to bring down my blog with negativity, but I haven't had the best of interactions with men on the street. I've been verbally and physically harassed, cornered, stalked (to the point of having the entrance to my apartment blocked and I had to slip around the back and take the stairs), etc. This has happened so many times over the last two decades that I have become rather withdrawn. I don't go out of my way to talk to strangers and quite frankly, I don't want them talking to me, especially if it's some sketchy looking dude, because in my vast experience, very little good comes from it.

Having my partner as a shield, doesn't help sometimes, as I have had people say things and even touch me in his presence. So, I guess it's sad that my first thought is that this man wants to hurt me, but so much has happened to me that I'd rather be safe than sorry. I always assume the worst for my own protection. =/ <3

I like the lace being under the dress. It looks like it naturally would be. I realized this morning while reading this that this post that I need more fruit in my wardrobe.

Aww, yeah that has happened to me so many times! I keep telling myself, 'oh, I'll buy it when it gets restocked (or when it goes on sale)' and then when it doesn't come back, I'm crushed and filled with regrets. Hehe. Btw, I read your reply to Suzanne, and I can relate. I've had a lot of shitty experiences with shitty men on the street, I always expect the worst. (especially on public transport) I think it's a normal reaction, after taking so much crap. >.<

Yeah, it's been an uphill battle. I used to be scared to even go outside of my apartment. If I had to walk somewhere, I'd walk really fast so no one had time to try to stop me. It really affected me and how I lived my life. I've gotten a little bit better about talking to strangers, but it's going to take awhile before I ever feel comfortable being outside alone. You know, the place where I felt the safest was Japan! No one really bothered me. I could stay out all hours of the night and walk around and I was fine. :D <3

I love the look of the skirt under the dress! I need a nice lacy skirt to layer under dresses for that exact same reason - just a bit more coverage.

I had my first blog photog oglers this week, believe it or not. A couple old guys started whistling at me and my photog when we were standing on train tracks. And they wouldn't stop. I didn't even acknowledge it. Gross.

Gaaaaah. That's terrible! Some people are just straight up assholes. I find that it's usually the ones who don't have anything better to do and don't have much self respect who jeer, taunt and carry on. Just keep on ignoring them. They thrive on the sadness of others and live for conflict.
