This look was a lot simpler when I sketched it. Originally, it was just the white dress, the liquid leggings and the olive scarf. I created the outfit at a time when it was much warmer. I meant to wear it sooner, but I kept pushing it back in the queue. So, I ended up doing a more layered look, while trying to maintain that minimalist vibe. I mean, it's cold out there, bro. o_O Hehe. I did what needed to be done.
I threw on a basic black coat and, honestly, I could have just stopped there. It would have kept my exposed arms from freezing and, with the coat on, the outfit still had the minimalist look I had originally envisioned. The thing is, I thought that if I was going to start adding layers, I might as well try to push the envelope a bit. So, underneath the dress, I wore a maroon long sleeved top and then I threw on my irregular black cardigan over it. However, I put an arm through only one sleeve of the cardigan. ;D
As a result, I ended up with two outfits: (a) the minimalist outfit that I intended to wear and (b) a completely new one that is revealed only when the coat is removed. Hehe. I like to surprise people. *shrug* Let them think you're wearing one thing, then take off your coat and totally mess them up.
Also, you'll notice that I played around with creating different shapes and angles using different pieces of fabric. With some subtle adjustments of the black cardigan, I could essentially walk into an establishment looking one way and then leave with a completely different arrangement. ;D
The great thing about wearing only half of the cardigan was that it created some really intense moments when the wind picked up. The white flap on the dress would go one way and the dangling black fabric from the cardigan would go another. It struck me as a bit avant garde. I felt like I was wearing art. Hehe.
I love that sh*t. This is what makes getting dressed so exciting. Days like these remind me of how much I can do with so little. I've worn all of these pieces a gazillion times, but I've never worn this particular arrangement. It's new and fresh to me, but all of the pieces are "old." Radtastic. <3 <3 <3
