Shapes, layers and textures. Yes, yes, yes. <3 It's that time of the year, folks! It's finally getting cold enough to warrant piling on a bunch of fabrics. Squee! :DDD I think that I do a lot of my best work in the Fall and Winter. Looking back at past style posts, it seems that I'm more creative at those times of the year. I guess this is partly due to the fact that it's hard to show complexity when everything is covered up by a coat. The test, therefore, is how to show your creativity without sacrificing your body to the elements. I had a tough time of this, in the first year or so of blogging, but I've got a better handle on it.
I'm stoked to see what I'll end up creating between now and April. Bring it on, Winter! >:D~ So, for this look, I didn't want to get ahead of myself, since it's not exactly freezing out. We're at that annoying time of the year when Gaia still isn't sure whether Summer is over. This means cold mornings, hot afternoons and cold nights. >_< To combat this, I wore very light layers that gave me just the right amount of warmth when worn in combination and that also resulted in an outfit that is rather interesting to look at, even when layers are removed. This technique is my modus operandi, as you well know.
I'm wearing two skirts here. I had to hike up the black floral lace maxi skirt way over my natural waist to get the hem as close in length to the maroon high low skirt as possible. That lace skirt really is crazy long. It touches the floor if I don't wear heels and I'm 5'9". So, that's why it's a wee bit bunchy at my mid-section.The band of the lace skirt is just above the band of the maroon skirt. *shrug* It's not perfect, but I still got the job done. Also, I have terrible posture. Heh. Anyway, I twisted the maroon skirt to create interesting shapes from all angles. I wore the irregular cardigan for the same reason. It's long on the sides and short in the back, so I can do some interesting wrap work with it. It's a real gem. :D
I diffused this serious situation of an outfit with the sarcastic black death tee. People always catch the large print first and then when they read the smaller print underneath..that's when it hits them. Hehe.
Death personified. o_O Does he need a side kick? I've got nothing going on, this weekend...
