Hi, Winter! How are you? Goooood. Me, too! :3 This is a bright remix of more or less old items from my closet. In creating this look, I combined several colors, textures and patterns without being too crazy. :P I think seven colors ought to do it. Heh. I also avoided black and grey as much as possible. So, from the back you can see a pleasing medley of yellow, brown, orange and teal. However, from the front.....
You get an unexpected burst of red. :DDD I removed my scarf, so you can see the amazing over-sized collar on my new red textured sweater, a gift from TrendyFine. It was $17.43 at the time that I picked it out, which is pretty cheap for such a nice sweater. It's long sleeved (too cold to show you, though!) with medium-thick material and the collar isn't sewed down at the neck, so you can fold it under to give the illusion that there is no collar. Better yet, you can layer a top with a really fun collar underneath and show that one off, instead. I like the versatility of the sweater and it comes in two other colors. ^_^
I wasn't really sure about the bright teal and red pairing, at first. I just really wanted an excuse to wear this cardigan, because it has been ages since I last wore it. Now, I know what you're thinking: A sweater and a cardigan? Really? How are you not freezing to death?! o_O O_o Welllllllll, I'm wearing five layers on top. :D First, the cardigan and red sweater. Then, underneath that is another red sweater. Haha. I'm serious. Underneath the second sweater is a long sleeved cotton top and under that top is my thermal.
Yep! :DDD Five layers on top and two on the bottom, but somehow I managed to avoid looking super frumptastic. It's outfits like these that tend to get people bent out of shape. They'll say, "Oh, I could never wear just a sweater and a cardigan in the winter. Isn't she cold?" However, it's all about what you *don't* see! I felt f*cking great! It's all about the layering. ^_^ Oh and the super sweet patterned backpack is something I picked up from my clothing swap group a while back. Unfortunately, I don't wear it too often, because it's a bit difficult to match with most of my outfits. It's a great bag, though!
I added the black and white patterned socks pretty much at the last minute. I liked the patterns in the backpack and then I remembered that I had socks with very similar patterns, so I thought, 'what the hell.' :D I got the orange skinny jeans for super cheap during a sale at UrbanOG. I haven't worn them in a really, really long time, though. Click here to see how I used them to create a geeky, 80's inspired look. Once again, I keep forgetting about all the awesome sh*t that I have. The spending freeze I went on last year taught me so much. Even though I'm no longer on the freeze, I still find myself reaching for lesser worn pieces and being very careful about adding any new items to my wardrobe. They say
repetition is key, right? If you do something long enough, it will eventually become second-nature. ^_^
Alright, alright. I'll quit my yappin'. I hope that you dig the outfit and that it didn't ruin your eyesight. ;D
If you didn't like this, then you'll be bummed next week, because I intend to clash patterns and pair vibrant colors. You have been warned! O_o o_O Haha. I hope you all had a kick ass weekend! <3
