Guys. I've been saying this vintage blazer is plaid, when it's actually tartan! Ack! Apparently, I don't know anything about prints. >_< I always get plaid, gingham and tartan mixed up. I think this is my fourth time wearing it on the blog and no one has corrected me on this, so the confusion is probably widespread, which makes me feel a little better, but still. Hehe. Anyway, let it be known that I am aware of this grave (is it?) error and from this day forward, I shall use the correct terminology. o_O O_o
Wow, my blazer is looking crazy bright here. Sorry. Sometimes my camera can't handle patterned fabric and it gets distorted. The brighter the light outside, the worse the phenomenon. I bet I could fix that somehow, but I've been lazy about mastering my camera settings. Also, while we're on the subject of me basically not knowing anything..heh. Is tartan and plaid something you're never supposed to wear together? Oh, please say this is a fashion sin. Please, please! :D The thought of people following rules for fashion irks me, so I would be delighted to know that I've broken at least one rule with this outfit.
The thing is, this juxtaposition of colors and patterns looks so good to me. Really good. I love it, actually. :D Also, the fedora, over-sized blazer, the orange plaid skirt and brown tassel loafers give the outfit a Teddy Girl vibe. There's a confidence and masculine edge tempered by the soft lace and billowy skirt. I've had the lace top forever, too. I can't remember where I thrifted it, but it's a real gem.
The knee high socks and structured brown satchel give the outfit a bit of a vintage schoolgirl vibe, which I guess I'm OK with? Hehe. The socks are from my sponsor, Sock It To Me! You can't really see the print too well here, but there are some close up photos, below. They're so funny and cute. ^_^
Look at the kitties and their pudgy little butts and big umbrellas! Haha. So damn cute. I laughed out loud when I first saw these. Even now, I look at this photo and smile. F*cking adorable, man. <3 I just had to include them in the outfit. They add a dose of quirkiness and confusion that I can't live without.
So, in my last post, I was an oddly dressed crazy person. In this post, I'm a nicely dressed, slightly odd person. What will I be next week? Hmmm. Hehe. *shrug* I guess we'll see! Have a great weekend! ;D
