It has become a little bit of an unconscious tradition for me to wear red, yellow and blue during the winter. I find myself doing this fairly consistently over the years (e.g. 2016, 2015, 2014). This is probably due to the fact that I just really like this color combination. It's fun, bright and reminds me of pop art.
There's no better cure for the doldrums of winter than brights. To make this color block style a bit more interesting, I put together a subtle mix of textures (chunky knits, smooth polyester and shiny leather) and patterns (polka dots, braids and pleats). So, there's a lot to enjoy from an aesthetic standpoint.
I think this outfit would be appropriate for Valentine's Day, but I had actually worn this over the weekend and there was no special occasion. I just felt like wearing something colorful and donning a bow tie. Hehe. I'm not sure what my partner has planned for today, but I always say that as long as it involves food and/or alcoholic beverages, I'll be happy. Haha. Flowers and/or cards are a total waste as I routinely kill plants despite my best efforts and, unless the card is just out of this world amazing, I usually just read it and then discard it. Heh. So, needless to say, I'm very much looking forward to stuffing my face and nursing a food baby over cocktails. :DDD Happy Valentine's Day, guys! <3
