It doesn't get any more nautical than this vintage navy striped dress. Haha. :D I loved it the first time I saw it. There's just something about the pleated bodice and oversized collar. It's incredibly light and the sheer, unlined fabric makes it perfect for Summer. I simply wore a thin navy blue dress slip underneath.
And yes, I wore the floral crown, again. Bah! Haha. I guess I'm starting to get used to that bit. >_< <3
It was a beautiful day for a picnic and I wish I had brought a blanket to sit on. I think that scene would have been even more appropriate, but I didn't want to risk getting the dress dirty. I'm on the fence about whether I should keep it. I have the dress up for sale in my Etsy shop, if you'd like to get some more info about it! For me, the dress is a total guilty pleasure (i.e. palpably vintage and whimsical). :D
The textures created by the pleats give the bodice a 3-D sensation. It's just so fun to look at. Maybe I'm a dork. I dunno. Haha. There are pearl buttons at each elbow opening and a single pearl button closure in the back. The dress goes on easily over the head, so I find it perfect for days when you feel too lazy to put something together, but you still want to look unique/fun. ^_^ It's definitely one-of-a-kind. <3
I last wore these slotted white flats in this previous post. I gotta admit, they're starting to grow on me. Maybe I don't look all that stupid in white shoes, after all. Haha. I think the flats go really well with the dress. As I was traipsing through damp grass, I thought they'd get dirty, but they look like new. ^_^
