I figured it had been awhile since I tapped into that weirdo part of my brain that is both eccentric and slightly scary. o_O So, here's the result! Hehe. I put on a ton of layers and my best serious face before stepping outside and probably scaring pretty much anyone with which I came into contact. :DDD
It was a fairly brisk day, but I did manage to peel away the layers of the outfit a bit, so you could see the method to my madness. :P Here, you can see that I'm wearing a grey fringed cardigan underneath my black coat. You can sort of make out the ombre effect in my skinny jeans and I seem to be wearing a buttoned scarf, but it's actually a textured shrug. ;D~ It's one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. <3
When I remove the coat, I just pull the shrug down over my shoulders and now the fringe cardigan is partially hidden underneath. You get to see more of my ombre jeans and you might even notice a little peek of lace on my arms. ;D I wore a sheer lace bodysuit underneath, but I wasn't feeling brave enough to show off my stomach area (plus it was kinda cold, bro hehe), so I wore a loose fitting top over it.
Altogether, I wore five layers on top, but I still managed to avoid looking bulky. :P From the angle of these photos, I hope to give you a better look at the mix of textures in the outfit. This is something to which I tend to give a lot of thought when I do layered up outfits. I love to see different grains, loose knits, tight knits, sheer fabrics, multi-directional lines, a variety of lengths, angles and shapes, etc.
Believe it or not, these ombre jeans are really hard for me to style. Every time I start to think about novel ways to style them, I get a headache. >_< So far, I seem to be most comfortable pairing them with dark, neutral tones. Click here to see how I styled them for winter a couple of years ago. You'll notice that I used a similar, conservative color scheme. I'm going to try to experiment with patterns, next time. =]
Right. I hope this outfit wasn't too scary or weird for you. Hehe. I think it's pretty cool. :D My next post will be bright and colorful and a lot less scary. So, hang in there and all that. It'll be OK. I promise! <3
