I really really really like this grid pattern blue dress by Dainty June. Every time I wear it, I feel like I've been transported back in time. :D The lining of the dress is soft blue florals on a white canvas. The angular "collar" is simply the result of floral patterned fabric that has been sewn onto the chest. The same effect was used to create that tiny little "belt" at the waist. The burnished buttons have anchors engraved into them; and I love the subtly changed pattern on the strip of fabric that lies underneath. <3
So much thought and care went into the design and construction of this garment. I respect and appreciate that. I'm also continually thankful that I was able to obtain such a beautifully tailored piece through a clothing swap. As far as thrift finds go, this dress is one of my best. No doubt about it!
I thought I'd take my hat off for this photo, so you could see that the tuft of hair isn't exactly what one might call "bangs." Hehe. Rather, it's the apex of a hefty pompadour. >:P~ I was in a vintage spirit, so I thought I'd take another stab at doing the crazy pompadour that I did in this 80's inspired post. The only difference is that I used curlers in my hair to make a bit of a swirl effect throughout. :D
I know I've been doing rather tame and dare I say, "sweet," outfits, lately. Make no mistake. I will scare you real good. Haha. It's all about the build up. Well...that...and I need to wait for the temperature to get just a little bit cooler, so I can throw on the layers that I love so much. >;D I think these "respite" posts are important, because they show that I have range (and that there is some goodness in my soul haha). I'm not always edgy and scary. Hehe. Anyway, I hope you liked this blast from the past! See ya! ^_^
