My package from Choies finally arrived! Huzzah! As you may or may not know, Choies graciously offered to sponsor my blog. As a result, I will receive items from their on-line store to review. This dress is one of two items I chose to review. You'll see the second item, next week. :D In this post, I'm showcasing Choies' Basic Green Skater Dress in Size Small. It retails for about $38. Though it is currently out of stock, it's possible that they will get more later, so if you like this dress, be sure to add it to your watch list! I'll do a proper review of my experience buying from Choies in a couple weeks.
I'm just as surprised as you are that I bought a dress. Haha. I think my previous frock challenge did something to my brain. Heh. I bought this dress as a layering tool, so you probably won't see me wearing it this openly often. However, if I covered up the dress in my usual way, you wouldn't actually be able to get a good view of it here. ;P So, I did some transparent layering with a soft grey coat and my favorite vintage floral blazer. I rather like the houndstooth lining in the coat. Sometimes, when I walk, the coat will flap open in the wind giving passersby an eyeful of houndstooth and florals. :D
The deep evergreen dress provides the perfect canvas for the aforementioned mix in prints. Admittedly, I could have used a size up. The shoulders and arms are quite snug on me. So, if you're typically a Size Small in dresses, I would recommend getting a Size Medium in this. The length of the dress is just fine, in my opinion. I am quite tall (5'9") and the Size Small covers my derrier even when I raise my arms in the air. So, if you're shorter than me, length shouldn't be a problem. The material is quite warm, also, making it perfect for Fall, Winter and Spring. The dress feels sturdy and well constructed.
I figured my thrifted red sparrow necklace would fit right in with the color scheme. Hence, the title of this post. ^_^ The Jade & Sparrow sounds a bit like a tavern name, doesn't it? I'd totally hang there. Haha.
Anyway, I finished the look with my thrifted leggings and wooden heel boots. The leggings have grey legwarmers sewn into the fabric. I totally love that. ^_^ It appeals heavily to my lazy side, I guess. Hehe.
Where did I go and what did I do all gussied up like this? A) coffee shop and B) backgammon. I lost. Ugh. Haha. I hate losing. I'm a classic sore loser. Sour face, crossed arms and all. It's OK to laugh. It makes me laugh, too. Heh. I get it from my dad, I think. You should see the two of us play dominoes. ;P
