I'm not a religious person. Let me just go ahead and get that out there. Hehe. There's no spiritual significance to this outfit, other than the fact that I was inspired by the beauty of stained glass artwork. I've always admired that art form. One of the things I love the most is the stunning array of colors.
Hence, I endeavored to do a color blocked style with a mix of warm and cool hues. :P Since, I don't often see bright lime green paired with dark blue or reddish orange, I tried to incorporate this unconventional mix in a way that would be pleasing to the eye. I like a good challenge and wearing bright colors will always be the bane of my existence. Haha. Overall, I'm pleased with this attempt.
I wore a striped tunic underneath the outfit just for the white collar. Hehe. Yep. That's my modus operandi. The cardigan was never meant to be opened. I wanted to wear it like a top, basically.
The cumin tights are a recent addition to my collection. I scored them from ModCloth's 70% off sale, last month. They're not as bright as my mustard tights, so I find myself liking them more. I think they will be easier for me to style and I won't feel so weird about having yellow legs. :P That being said, I'm still going to continue wearing the other ones, but honestly, probably not as often now that I have these.
I wore this outfit to brunch with my partner. The place we went to was kind of an upscale crepe and coffee place. It's in the heart of downtown, so you get all types in this place. Though, I have to say that it's usually a mix of students, well-to-do middle aged people, young professionals and wanna-be hipsters. Hehe. You can feel the judgmental eyes as soon as you enter this place. It's always been that way. So, I always brace myself a little before entering. The food is always great, but the atmosphere can be a little...stuffy, if you catch my drift. Well, it's no surprise that I got a lot of stares. o_O
I couldn't tell if the looks stemmed from bewilderment or disapproval. It's not easy being the only brown person in the room when I go places around town. That's just a hazard of living in a relatively small city in the Midwest. I automatically stand out due to my skin color and then when I dress like this, I stand out even more. >_< Well, I don't think I should have to apologize for having a personality. Haha. This is me, motherf*ckers, so ya'll better just get used to it. I've always been queer and I like myself. So there. :3
