I was invited to my boss's house over the weekend to BBQ and hang with his family, so I decided to do a nerdy/preppy chic look for the occasion. I was never really one for wearing cardigans. I tended to regard them as matronal. I bought my first ever cardigan last year and I've been hooked ever since. I find that they're perfect for certain outfits that desperately need that little something extra.
Here, I chose to go with a yellow Mak Cardigan. I also have this brand cardigan in black and peacock green. I'd love to get it in navy and grey as well. It's sooo soft and comfy. I think it added the right amount of additional color to the outfit. I think there are a few left on the site where I bought it.
I also wore my first ever Everly purchase: the pleated knee-length skirt. I love it and I wear it a lot, as it goes with everything. It's just the perfect shade of green and the pleats
make it aesthetically interesting.
I love this Space Invaders T-Shirt. It's no longer available. However, Threadless sometimes restocks past designs based on popularity, so if you like the shirt tell them to bring it back!
The socks are a bit on the expensive side, but worth it for the cool retro colors and adorable vespas.
I love showing these off with knee length skirts or capris. I wore them with calf-high boots today with the multi-colored stripes prominently displayed on top. Awesome! I got them for $12.
There was a chance of rain the day of the BBQ so, I made sure I had my yellow duck umbrella handy. It has a cute painted wooden handle and it came with a handy carrying case with a shoulder strap. The handle looks great peeking out of the top of a messenger bag. I got it for $18.
In a previous post, I mentioned a wrap around watch in cream that I got at half price. Well, this is the second watch that the shop owner offered at a discount during a weekly accessories sale. I got it for $20.
