It snowed a little bit over the weekend and
I have to say, I was pretty excited about having an excuse to break out my trusty yellow duck umbrella and my new cherry red Tulle coat for Sunday brunch.
My partner and I had a great brunch and as we were about to leave, this woman from a table behind us stopped me and told me that she had been admiring (albeit more like conspicuously staring) at me for most of her breakfast and that she just loved what I was wearing. I politely thanked her, but I just felt so...awkward. I had noticed her through the corner of my eye staring at me as she was talking to her gentleman caller. I kept thinking: "is there something on my face?"
It made me very uncomfortable.
I tried to ignore it and I just focused on my partner and what he was talking to me about at the time. At some point, I eventually looked right at her and she looked away. Ugh. I did appreciate the compliment, but
I have to say that there is an art to admiration from afar and some people
just haven't mastered it. =/~
Ok. Moving on. Heh. After brunch, we stopped at a nearby java joint to just hang out, drink good coffee, read good books and enjoy the falling snow. It was so nice and relaxing. I truly enjoy and appreciate my little "coffee days." That night, a wonderful musician played such beautiful songs on a viola. I didn't even know there was going to be a musical guest. It was certainly a nice end to a lazy Sunday.
On the way, we made a pit stop at a park so I could create some blog content. ;P The snow turned to light rain and my partner complained about cold hands and a wet camera lens, so I couldn't take very many photos outside. However, I took more photos when we got back home.
Oh, hey! That's me at home! Cool. :D So, I just love my new Tulle coat. I'd never shopped with Tulle, before. They had an amazing 60% off sale over Thanksgiving weekend in 2012 and I just couldn't help myself. I bought two coats, a trench capelet, an amazing floral dress with lace trim and elbow length black gloves for about $100 including shipping. It was an incredible deal, because the real value of these items was almost $300. The quality of the items were impeccable. This coat is very well constructed and it came with a notice that its fabric had been dermatologically tested and that it would be safe to wear. I thought that was pretty cool. I really want to get this coat in kelly green and yellow.
The orange infinity scarf is from Cotton On. I bought it around November 2012 not long after Cotton On opened their US on-line site. They have very reasonable prices and, although they're based in Australia, their items ship from within the US. I find that they're really good for affordable basics.
I'm also sporting my teal skinnies from Nasty Gal, yet another first time purchase made over Thanksgiving weekend. Honestly, I can't afford to shop there unless there is a sale. I'm just not that cool. Sorry! Haha. :/~ In addition to the skinnies, I got an awesome batwing red/black plaid high-low tunic and a taupe over-sized clutch purse. I've always wanted one of those. :P
The awesome yellow Cambridge satchel is from VJ Style. I did a little VJ Style review featuring this satchel previously. You can see that review here. I scored it on sale for a fantastic price and it makes a great briefcase. I decided to carry it in a more casual way, this time, though. I packed it with my laptop, gloves, iPod, iGrado headphones, wallet, "Music Is An Outburst of the Soul" pencil case and my 900 page Wheel of Time novel. It was pretty weighed down, but it held up like a champ. Great purchase.
Oasap Review
I was nervous about shopping with them, because I didn't receive a tracking number with the emails notifying me that my items had shipped. Also, I bought this sweater as a separate order from the other three and this one shipped first (within 3 business days). However, my other shipment, took almost 7 business days to ship. I freaked out and started searching for reviews on-line and I read some major horror stories. So, I freaked out even more and asked my dear friend Pamada from Just Pandippo about her experience with Oasap, since she used to be a part of their blogger program. She said her experiences shopping with them had been positive and basically advised me to be patient.
Of course, I could not be patient. Haha. It's not my nature. I contacted customer service and asked them to provide a tracking number for the first shipment. The next day, they provided a USPS tracking number. Since my item is shipped by air, it took a few days for the USPS tracking number to produce any shipping information. Eventually, I was able to track my item and the sweater arrived.
It was extremely well packaged, too. Needless to say, I was quite relieved.
My sweater was wrapped in plastic and placed in a reusable canvas bag which had the Oasap logo on it and some decorations. I wasn't expecting that. None of the other places with which I regularly shop provide reusable bags as packing material. Pretty cool! The sweater was exactly as pictured and super soft. I've never worn anything so soft. I guess that's the Mohair? This is my first Mohair item.
Also, it is a "one-size" item and I'm tall with long arms, so I was expecting it to be short, but it fits perfectly. I think it's supposed to be an over-sized fit, however, I'm gargantuan. Haha. Yeah. It's more like a regular sweater on me. Also, much like my experience with Chicnova and VJ Style,
the sweater didn't come with tags and I didn't receive a return receipt with my package.
Still, I got exactly what I bought, they didn't hide the ball when I sought a tracking number and my item arrived in very good condition. Maybe I just got lucky? It's in the realm of the possible. Still, if you've been curious about Oasap or if you've never even heard of them, I hope you find this review helpful.
At this rate, I think I will shop with them, again. If I have a negative experience, though, I will share it!
I do hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! I always look forward to what my weekends may bring. :D
