Let me just say that people have the right to look at whoever or whatever they want. I know that and I respect that. Yet, I still harbor this irrational need to be free of prying eyes when I go out. >_< Sometimes, I'll put an outfit together in the hopes that people notice and appreciate it. Other times, I realize that I look different/out of the ordinary, but in the back of my mind, I hope people don't stare.
It's a strange dichotomy. I know. The thing is, staring is much different from looking. I felt this very intensely on the day that I wore this outfit. I got so many lingering and frequent stares at the brunch spot my partner and I went to. It got to the point where it was difficult to eat. I almost wished we had gotten the food to go and just ate it on our patio. =[ There's an art to admiring from afar. Not everyone has mastered that art, however. It can cross the line into the realm of just being rude and judgmental.
Yep. Thanks for making me feel weird while I'm trying to eat, you guys! O_o o_O Heh. That being said, on the walk home, a runner spotted me and smiled. He kept smiling the entire time he was looking at me, too. Haha. It was a very warm smile, though, as if I had brightened his day. So, that was nice. <3
Anyway, as you can see, I went the dapper school girl route. :P I drew inspiration from the rather distinguished llama socks, hence the navy/grey color scheme. I think that the socks really make the outfit. I noticed a lot of people looking down at my feet, among other places. Heh. I kept things simple with a white vintage blouse, grey/white polka dot bow tie and pleated grey skirt. The navy pea coat came in handy in the late morning, but by mid-afternoon I had discarded it as it warmed up quite a bit.
Despite all of the weirdness from people, I did enjoy wearing this outfit. It made me happy. ^_^ There are a lot of little details in it that I enjoy and I think it represents me quite well. It's quirky, fun, interesting, a little dapper, but still manages to avoid looking overly formal and serious. Hope you enjoy it! <3
