It's getting close to Valentine's Day and everyone's wearing pink and red and sh*t. Not me. Haha. I don't know why I don't care about all that stuff. If my partner decides to feed and water me for this very special occasion, I'll probably end up wearing black. *shrug* I know something's wrong with me. It's OK.
Anyway, on this day, I decided to fall back into my comfort zone (i.e. earth tones). I've always been drawn to black, grey and brown. "Dead colors," as my mother never ceases to refer to them. Yeah, they're the ugly colors of dying vegetation, but such decomposition can be beautiful, too.
So, with this outfit, I celebrate that duality. I combine colors that are contemporaneously unattractive and pleasing to the eye. There's a hardness and softness to this look, too. I think it's a little scary on the outside, but when you peel away the layers, it's all warm and fuzzy on the inside. Hehe. ^_^
The auburn cardigan is one of my favorite thrift finds from last year. The color is perfect. It's long, soft and cozy. Also, I really like the olive/auburn/houndstooth combo. It's a mixture that I haven't done before and looking at these photos, I probably could have finessed the combo a bit better. However, the auburn framed the houndstooth pattern beautifully, IMO. Overall, I'm happy with the finished product!
That's it! Have a kick ass weekend, folks! <3
