Hey, dudes! Today, I'm showcasing a rad vintage, batwing skirt from the early 90s. It was made in Japan and it's all kinds of f*cking awesome! :D In order to do it justice, I used it as a canvas for a rather dark ensemble with a bohemian flair. I'm bundled up like woah, but I'll peel away the layers below.

Surprisingly, it was a gorgeous day. The sun felt wondrous and though it was windy, the breeze was light and cool. Essentially, it was a perfect Fall day. Just when I had lost hope, Gaia came through. <3

Anyway, let's get down to business! So, I'm wearing a cheeky Threadless tee tucked into my kick ass skirt which is held up by suspenders. I added my favorite grey fringe cardigan and layered my black hoodie over that. The final pieces consist of faux over-the-knee sock tights from ASOS, lace up wedge boots, a gold studded barrel bag and fantastic color-changing sunglasses from zeroUV. Essentially, depending on the lighting, the sunglasses can look bright yellow, blood red or deep orange.

Below you will find a better views of the plaid vintage skirt. It has asymmetrical protrusions at the front and sides. I doubt they were called "batwings" at the time. That seems to be a more contemporary descriptor, but I don't know how else to characterize them. They have the same kind of effect and they're so unique. The skirt is frayed at the seams with soft, cream colored fabric, giving it a really cool patchwork vibe. You'll notice that the skirt is partially light wash denim. The denim portion is thick, sturdy and has belt loops. It is essentially a hybridization of denim jeans and a plaid skirt. Awesome!

This Threadless tee is one of my favorites. It's one of those "ohhh, I get it" shirts. It'll either make you roll your eyes and groan or give you a bit of a smirk. Either way, I'm cool with it. Haha. ^_^

Fun layered outfit. You definately have the frame to add so many layers. I don't think I'd be able to pull that off.

The skirt is very unique.

I like the t-shirt and the boots especially.

Not sure if Japan produces anything not awesome! I love that when your jacket is closed your sweater looks like a dress, but when you open it, it's like "BAM I'm wearing a great skirt and a clever shirt"

All of these pieces are so unique! I'm absolutely in love with that sweater - it's got so much personality but it's not overtly crazy. Love how it flairs out of your jacket. And I love the tongue-in-cheek shirt. I'd see something like that and call you a goober. Haha.

I know I've said this like a billion times before, but your legs are all kinds of awesome.

I LOVE that you got that skirt from Japan. I'm not very cultured myself (working on it. heh.) but my hubbs is incredibly into Japanese culture and was teaching himself their beautiful language at one point.

brilliant layering, as usual. I love how you peeled away that badass gray cape thing and then BAM BAD ASS SKIRT. I can't handle all the bad ass. I just can't.
