VJ Style Review
Are we cool? All's forgiven? We're cool? OK. That's a load off. So, you guys! Remember back in December 2012 when I posted about a bunch of stuff I wanted (and probably didn't and still don't deserve) from various on-line stores for XMAS? No? Need a refresher? Then click here!
Well, I scored something from my VJ Style wish list and I'm so excited to finally have a reason to wear it so I can post about it! I got this absolutely beautiful satchel from VJ Style when it was on sale and I got an additional 5% off for liking them on Facebook. Yeah, it doesn't sound like much, but I like saving money, no matter how trivial. I ordered a black duffel bag with gold studs also, so I ended up saving about $15 total and I got free shipping. So, yeah. I couldn't wait for someone to potentially, probably, hopefully, maybe buy the yellow satchel for XMAS. So, I kinda sorta just gifted it to myself. Heh.
Maybe I should have double checked the measurements, but it's HUGE! Way bigger than I was expecting. I still love it, though. It is a perfect canary yellow, very sturdy and it will actually fit a large laptop with plenty of room to spare. I probably won't be using it as a casual handbag as often as I will be using it as a briefcase. It's rigid enough to hold file folders, so I won't worry about them bending.
This satchel and the black duffel bag constituted my first purchase from VJ Style.
I learned about them from my dear friend Matea of Heart In The Clouds. From her blog posts, the items she got appeared to be very good quality and chic. I checked out VJ Style's page and I was surprised at how relatively affordable their stuff is. Of course, this made me suspicious as I am not a trusting person. They accepted PayPal, so I took the plunge and I think I will buy from them again.
My package shipped via DHL which rocks, because DHL is fast and meticulous in shipping updates. It arrived in a sturdy, tear-resistant bag and my handbag and satchel were encased in protective material.
I didn't receive a receipt or return-slip, though, and neither my handbag nor my satchel had any identifying marks or product tags on them. So, you should make all of the reasonable deductions that you can make from this. However, the items I received were NOT cheap in construction. I'm still surprised at how well-made they are for the price that I paid, including my discount.
I should also mention that I received an order confirmation by email and my order shipped within three business days. I received a shipping notification by email, but I was not provided with a tracking number. On VJ Style's website, they invite you to request the tracking details by email. So, I emailed them and they sent me the DHL tracking number. I'm not sure why they don't provide that information automatically as a matter of course, but at least I know I can always just ask for it.
And now, I need to make it clear that I have not been paid to write this review and I have not received any free merchandise from VJ Style. My blog is just not that cool and I'm totally OK with that state of affairs. I just thought that, if there's someone out there wondering about shopping with VJ Style, but isn't sure about whether the site is legit, this blog post would be welcomed.
So what else am I wearing? Well, I've got my kick ass red sleeveless pocket dress. I don't know why, but I just love skirts and dresses with pockets. I just can't resist those little features. Underneath the dress is...another dress. Haha. It's a size medium, but its super flowy and the only thing that gives it any real shape is a removable black belt. It looks like a hospital gown on me. Seriously.
So I got crafty and started wearing it as an undershirt and sometimes just as a skirt. Here, I folded and tucked it into my tights and added a light slip to cut down on bulkiness. So, you really can't tell that I'm wearing two dresses. :D I'll get a polka dot top eventually, but until then, this little system should work.
I've also got a black blazer dressed up, but I've also worn it casually. You can see that more casual look here. I also wore my favorite tights and brand new heels. I still felt like something was missing, though. My partner didn't have a black tie. I know, what kind of person doesn't have a single black tie?! So, I just grabbed a scarf. I ended up fiddling with it all night because the fabric is slippery so it would slide around and show its underside. That's why it looks partially grey in the photo. Sorry! However, in light of this, I got a made-to-order black tie from Montreal! So, I finally have my own. :D
You may or may not be wondering where I was going all dressed up. My partner's parents came to visit and we treated them to dinner and drinks. It was too cold and too dark outside for me to get any clear photos and we don't have much plain wall space in the apartment, so I popped into the scary
attic to snap these. Hence, the dusty and debris littered floor boards and stripping walls.
Yeah, I know. It's better than nothing, though! *(^_^)*
