I created yet another scary, dystopian outfit. Sorry! I just felt the itch and I had to scratch. Haha. <3 The fact that I feel so comfortable in this garb can be a bit disturbing. Hehe. This apocalyptic style felt like a second skin to me. I guess I have a really dark side. We all do, I think. However, instead of being ashamed of it or pretending that it doesn't exist, I simply choose to embrace it in an artistic fashion.
Anyway, I have to say that I love this first photo. I whipped the fringe around to create a straight jacket effect and it just looks so f*cking cool, man. Haha. I know that I scared some people on this day. I don't know if I caused anyone to like cross to the other side of the sidewalk or something, but if I did that's totally cool. I like having an entire sidewalk to myself. It's like the world is my runway. Hehe. ;D
As for the construction of my outfit, it's quite simple. I layered the ModCloth fringe cardigan from this post underneath my black poncho from this post. Beneath those bits lies a crazy t-shirt. The cool thing about the poncho is that it's long on the sides and short in the front and back, so it's a lot of fun to layer!
So, in this series of photos you're seeing the side and back of the outfit. Hopefully this helps to further illustrate the layering I explained above. You can see the different textures in the fabrics, too. :P
These old world map leggings are totally killer and I really don't wear them as often as I should. I just find it a little difficult to match them up with other pieces in my closet. The print is so fantastic and I'd hate to overshadow that, so I try to be mindful of what I wear with the leggings. Click here to see how I last styled them. You'll notice that I used a similar subdued color scheme to allow the patterns to stand out. I'm thinking about pairing the leggings with dark green and deep blue garments. We'll see! :P
Since this outfit is on the simple side (in my warped head, mind you hehe), I added a little something extra to make it more interesting. This Threadless tee worked beautifully. The bright colors attract attention; the scene depicted is intensely emotional, disturbing and beautiful (fitting with the overall theme of the outfit); and it's just totally unexpected since it's being covered up by two other layers. I love hiding things like this and watching people's reactions when I casually reveal those hidden bits.
By the way, Threadless is having a Spring sale! You can snag tees for just $10, this week! That's 50% off which is an awesome discount, so totally get all up on that, bros. They've got amazing designs!
I realize that this outfit exudes a "go big or go home" attitude. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's my flavor and I think it tastes great! So, you'll have to excuse me if I go back for seconds. :P
