If I were a librarian, this is the kind of outfit I would wear to work. :P I'd spend all day sitting among musty old tomes and enjoying their aroma. <3 Haha. I've always liked the smell of old books. *shrug*

Picture

I've talked to my partner about this on a number of occasions. I think there will always be a place in society for books. He thinks that physical books will soon become a thing of the past and that everything will be digital. That may be true. If so, I rue the day, to be honest. :F I mean there are obvious benefits to digitizing books, but I guess there's still something artificial and sterile about the whole thing. I can't bring myself to read anything on a Kindle. I won't even read a book on my phone.

There's just something about being able to hold a book; feel the pages between your fingers as you turn them; hear the crinkle of the pages in the spine; etc. It's hard to explain. All I can say is that I've loved books ever since I can remember. I was always tucked away in my bedroom reading a book when I was a kid. My books were such a comfort to me. I could pick them up at any time and immediately be someplace else. So, I find not being able to read a book, because I've run out of battery life to be just bizarre. Heh. You'll never have that problem with a physical book. If you drop it, it won't shatter. <3

Anyway, I've always been kind of stuck in the past about certain things. Books, video games, clothing. The older the better. Hehe. Ah, speaking of that! I managed to wear a mostly vintage outfit! Huzzah! :D

As I was walking down the sidewalk with my partner, a woman on her bike took notice. She said that I looked as if I was from the 40's. Then she explained that she was doing some sort of photography project for a class and she asked if she could take my photo with her vintage camera. I didn't have any problem with it. So, she went into her backpack and took out a portable tripod. I thought: 'Woah. This lady is prepared.' Haha. So, yeah. I ended up getting my photo taken twice. I was so nervous. I couldn't breathe. Can you believe it? I take photos all the time, but when a stranger did it, I was like: o_O

Picture

I'm a goober. >_< Haha. Anyway, I'm curious about how the pictures turned out on her vintage camera. I hope she gets a good grade in her class, too. Hehe. Yep. OK, I'm done yappin'. See you next time!

I've heard so many arguments in favor of e-books but, I just can't. I've read a few and I just don't think the experience is as immersive somehow. Plus, there is no beautiful book to slide onto my bookshelf and run my fingers over occasionally to admire and reminisce. That's an important part of my process lol.

Yes! I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes, all it takes is just a glance at the spine of a book to bring back mental images of scenes from that book. It happens to me often (and is usually the reason why I forgo reading certain books more than once hehe). <3

I've tried reading ebooks but on tiny screens but that makes it SUPER annoying. I used to have so many books but don't have the space for it :( So sad.. that needs to change!

Yeah, the good thing about e-books is that you can have a massive library. It similar to mp3s. We love those, because they save space. No more massive CD books and libraries. Same with games, too. Clunky cartridges and CD cases take up a lot of space.

The thing is, I feel like books deserve their own special exemption. Hehe. Yes, they take up space, but they're more valuable in many ways. They're an investment. <3

I have a Kindle and use it pretty frequently, but I don't think I'll ever stop reading physical books. It just feels RIGHT to hold a book in my hands, you know? Plus, I've found that books with illustrations and other graphics don't translate well to e-book form. May our libraries always be stocked with proper tomes!

And that's so cool that you had your picture taken by a stranger!! That's awesome!

I'm always a big fan of your cute collars <3
This is such a lovely look and wow!! so cool that some stranger wanted you to be part of their project >w< (you rock, so I'm not surprised but still so sooo cool ;))

I love physical books too. I really like the way they look especially on book shelves and it's lovely to collect them...
It's good that e-books exist but I'm hoping too that physical books will never die <3

Hehe. Right. There are a lot of things that people collect and hoard, but I don't think anyone will ever judge you or look at you funny if you hoard books. ;D It's one of the best things to obsess about. <3

I love this outfit - definitely librarian chic! That collar is just perfect!

Also, I feel the same way about books. I absolutely cannot read anything longer than an article on an electronic platform. Having a book in your hand, nothing beats that!

What a FUN look!!! It does look very retro but in an awesome way. I agree with the e-books. I could never get on board with them. To this day I don't own an iPad or a Kindle. Do you? I like the tangibility of real ones :)

Thanks! I appreciate the visit! ^_^

P.S. - I have as of yet to own a Kindle. I do have an iPad, but I only use it in the kitchen for recipes, if you can believe it. Hehe.

I *am* a school librarian! (at least for another month or so) and this is what I basically wear, haha. Well, cardis and shirts and skirts.
I looove the octopus necklace, so cool!

About books vs kindle, I used to be like you, but then I got a kindle as a present and it's just soooooooo handy. I still love reading books on paper, but when you're like me, commuting and cycling every day, it's such a relief to be able to shred some weight and just stick my kindle in my bag instead of the big tomes I usually read. Also, if you're lazy like me and you're in bed finishing a great book you don't need to get out of bed to buy the second installment. You just click and there you have it.
There's certainly pros and cons for both media but I can't be against Kindles anymore :P

I love this outfit! It really does look like you're from the 40's, perhaps with the exception of the octopus necklace, haha! And it's a perfect librarian outfit.

I agree 100% about never being able to read books on electronic devices. There's just something magical about reading an actual book, smelling the pages, hearing the whisper as they turn... I get an actual thrill filling up a bookcase with good books, smelling pages, and reading words from the actual paper. I've only ever read one or two books on my phone, and that was because my friend loaned them to me via Kindle. Which I had to download just to read them. Other than that, though, I'd rather get books from the library or go to my local thrift stores to see if I can find any I can just buy! And this is why we have over 300 books in our house... and only one book case. It's not enough to hold them all, but it'll do for now. At least our favorites are out of storage!

I love that you got stopped by a street photographer with a vintage camera :DDDD

Also- studies show we don't retain as well what is read on a screen versus printed material (though that may be negated some by the the readers that are a made to look like paper since it is the screen light that causes the decrease in reading ability.)

At any rate, I like the librarian chic ;)
