Happy New Year! Here's to another great year of style, creativity and friendship! ^_^ <3 For my first post of the new year, I'm showcasing some of my favorite vintage finds from last year, as well as my first purchase from my sponsor, Sammydress! Allow me to peel away the layers, if you will. ;D
The blazer is heavy and made of wool, making it perfect for Winter. It has shoulder pads ("Ten-hut!" O_o) and the buttons are on the opposite side. This makes buttoning a little awkward, but I happen to like this little quirk. The best thing about this blazer, though, is that it was tailor made and it bears the proof in the form of a sewn label declaring the name of the owner. I find this both amusing and a little creepy. Haha. We all know that when we buy vintage, we're buying someone else's stuff, but the fact that the blazer has the dude's name sewn into it, just brings that fact even closer to home.
The cream ascot blouse makes one of two Miss Patina London garments that I now own. The other item is a super cute dress that is just a little too tight in the bust on me. It was called the "Reference Desk Dress" on ModCloth, and I have it up for sale in my Storenvy shop if you want to take a look!
I love the brand's attention to detail and carefree attitude. ^_^ The blouse has marbled buttons and frills at the collar and wrists. The ascot is really beautiful and it is removable, which I really like. It was a bit too cold for me to peel everything away so I could show you the whole blouse, but it was for sale on ModCloth as the "Lady On Lexington Top," so you can check out the stock photos, if you like!
OK, so let's move on to the rest of the outfit! Down below, I'm wearing my favorite pair of navy blue high waisted corduroy shorts by Dear Creatures. You'll probably remember them from this past post.
Underneath the shorts lies my paisley print tights from ModCloth. They're called the "Arabian Tights" on the website. I'm clashing with a purpose in this outfit thanks to the ascot and floral vest. In this regard, I felt like the paisley print tights needed to be a part of the melee. ^_^ I didn't want the continuous print to be overly distracting, so I diluted it with a pair of thick over-the-knee socks.
Last, but not least, I'm excited to show off my new vintage style handbag from Sammydress! I picked it up for just $10.80 and I'm very satisfied with it. The quality is fantastic and it's the perfect size.
I purchased the white version (there are lots of other colors from which to choose), though I find it to be more of a cream or off-white in person. I'm totally fine with the overall color, though. Oh and you'll see in the pictures below that it is stylized at the front and back. I love that you can't tell which side is which. There have been times when I've picked up a handbag and went about my business not realizing that I had it turned the wrong way. Haha. With this bag though, that situation will never come up!
I love the super cute scalloped trim, buckled design and the fact that I can wear it without the long strap. Now, if only it came in a bright yellow color! >_< I could really use a yellow bag in this size.
The bag has a two-snap closure at the front as well as a zipper up top. The envelope shaped flap in the back has a single snap closure. Underneath that is a well hidden, but handy rectangular pocket. ^_^
I hope your first week of the new year is off to a good start! :D
