The good news: It was above 40 degrees one fateful weekend in November. The bad news: It rained the entire time. So, I had a choice to make: Should I phone it in and just wear something really comfortable and stay home for the weekend or do I try to get out of the house a bit and be a little clever while I'm at it? I'm sure you can guess which way the pendulum swung on that one. Hehe.
Make no mistake, being out and about in the rain sucks. Even though it wasn't necessarily freezing cold, it was still chilly, foggy and just plain dreary. I regret that I gave into the resulting seasonal affective disorder and wore a rather dark and scary ensemble. I know I look like a murderess. I wouldn't want to run into me in a dark alley, either. Hehe. I'm fine with that, though. For me, this outfit is cathartic.
I've worn these mixed pattern tights a few times on my blog and I think it goes without saying that they're totally killer (pun very much intended). >:D I used the tights to play up the pattern aspect of the outfit and to just basically try to elevate an all-black look to make it more interesting and unique. To bring out the patterns and add an extra layer of warmth, I wore mustard tights underneath.
I got this black and white patterned cardigan from my sponsor, Oasap. It was on sale for $17.75. I've seen many bloggers wearing this type of cardigan, so I'm aware that it is really trendy. The thing is, I really like the patterns in the cardigan and I felt the urge to challenge myself to see if I could wear it in an unconventional outfit. When I look at this cardigan, I immediately see blue jeans, an understated top, some nice shoes and that's it. It would easily class up a casual outfit and it is quite cozy. I'll probably end up wearing it like that many, many times. However, this time, I wanted to give the cardigan an edge.
Who knows? Maybe I took it too far. It wouldn't be the first time. Haha. I like to be on the precipice.
