It's not grunge without layers and apparently, layering is what I do best. :D So, let me explain the method to my madness. I basically created four looks in one. It's kind of my favorite thing to do and stuff. :P So, right now you're seeing Look #1 which is marked by my totally rad olive parka.
I've also got my studded backpack from Sammydress which you probably recognized from this past post. I had my laptop, head phones, cell phone, novel and other stuff in there. Held up like a champ!
Here you can see the layers of the onion, so to speak. Haha. There's a lot going on, but none of this is all that complicated. I'll break everything down further, below. Oh and you're probably thinking: 'Hey, man. I can totally see where your tights start and end. You might wanna pull those shorts down.' Well, I thought about doing that and I did do that in this previous post. However, since this is a grunge look, I decided to leave it that way to add to the haphazard/don't-give-a-f*ck feel I was going for. ;D
OK, so here is Look #2. I've taken away the olive parka and now we're left with my rad zipper hoodie In hindsight, I think each look harbors a different feel, while still being grungy, if that makes sense? I dunno. I guess we need to get to the last two looks and then you can decide for yourself. Heh.
This is Look #3. Let's imagine the parka and hoodie are on a hook at a coffee shop (though on this day they were hung up at a brunch spot not far from where I live :D) and now we're left with my over-sized heather grey cardigan. If layers are a necessity for a grunge style, then I would place over-sized and elongated pieces as the next most important element (in my opinion). Despite these layers, I was quite comfortable, by the way. This happened to be a perfect Spring outfit, as it is still a bit chilly out here!
This time of year is a welcome respite from Winter, but it also marks an annoying transition into Summer. This is because it is often cold in the morning, nice in the afternoon, but chilly in the evening and cold at night. So, you might not need a coat in the afternoon, but you'll be glad you brought it when it gets dark. Hehe. ;D So, wearing layers and being able to add or subtract throughout the day helped!
Ahh finally! Now we've arrived at Look #4! ^__^ I took away the cardigan to reveal the base look which consists of a plaid high-low top, suspenders and spiked high waisted shorts. :D Apparently, my cardigan shed all over my shorts, so that's why they look all dusty. I don't normally carry around a lint roller...Haha. And I guess I could have edited that out, but I don't know how to use Photoshop. >_< Oh who cares? This is real life. When you wear certain clothing together, you get fuzzies on them. Hehe.
And there you have it! Studs, spikes and layers upon layers. I hope you like it! ^_^
