I basically started with the super cute teal/yellow socks and built an outfit around them. I draw inspiration from all kinds of things, so it's no surprise that the colors and prints on the socks spoke to me. Given the end result, I like what they had to say. ;) Still, I tried not to be too matchy-matchy.
I knew that I definitely wanted to use a deep golden yellow somewhere in the outfit and the country style theme of the socks made me immediately think of plaid. So, I took a chance and combined the two via the eyelet sweater and vintage blouse. After that, I decided to add deep orange, instead of teal (again, to avoid a matchy matchy vibe). I really love the stark contrast in texture with the sweater and skirt.
I wasn't sure about the bright teal bar at the top of the socks, in terms of how it went with the outfit. I had thought about folding that bit under, but my partner liked the extra pop of teal, so I left them alone. :D
The socks are a gift from my sponsor, Sock It To Me. They're $11.50 and men's socks, actually. <3 That kind of thing doesn't really bother me, but yeah. If you like them, be sure to look in the men's section!
