I've been obsessed with culottes for awhile, now. So, I'm stoked to *finally* have a pair. :D I thrifted these vintage wool tartan culottes, late last year. I had every intention of wearing them, but other style ideas got in the way. Before I knew it, Summer arrived and it was just much too hot by that time. =[
Hence, I basically had to wait almost an entire year to wear them. >_< Anyway, what matters is that I'm getting some good use out of them, now. One thing I wasn't too sure about was what kind of shoes to wear with culottes. These are high waisted and they're pretty long on me, so it's hard to know what to do with the space that is left between the hem of the pants and my feet. There seemed to be just enough room for the knee high wooden heeled boots and I have to say, I quite like this pairing. <3
When I tried on the culottes for the first time, they reminded me of pants that you would wear on a safari. o_O It's hard to explain, but I felt like all I needed was a pair of binoculars and a safari hat. Heh. Since I'm a city girl at heart, I sought to create an outfit that would be fit for an expedition through a concrete jungle. ;P I like the juxtaposition of the rich cinnamon sweater with the culottes as well as the blend of materials and textures. This is a simple outfit, but it has a lot of interesting elements. ^_^
