Any Queen fans out there? Hehe Well, this title is for you! ;D Today, I'm showcasing the second item I picked out from Choies for review. It's the Basic All-match Cotton Long Vest Dress In Gray and it retails for $23. I was hoping it would be more like a maxi dress on me, but I'm too tall for it. The dress ends a little bit below the knee on me which is an awkward length, so I simply gathered it in a knot. =)
The quality of the dress is quite good. The fabric is soft and comfortable and the dress is quite easy to wear. Even worn by itself and gathered with a simple belt, it looks great, in my opinion. Of course, I had to choose a more complex route. ;D Here, I used the dress as a canvas for intricate layering. The lace, florals, fringe and flyway strips of fabric give this outfit a bohemian flare, while the vegan leather jacket, mixed pattern tights, wedge boots, scarf and steampunk sunglasses provide a much needed edge.
You may remember the black cardigan from my T-Shirt Fashion Challenge over the summer. It is a fantastic investment, as there are just so many ways to wear it due to the irregular cut (i.e. short in the front and back; longer on the sides). Each layer of this outfit is either thin or sheer, so the warmest pieces were my scarf and jacket. I felt neither too hot nor too cold on this sunny Fall afternoon. :P
I enjoyed wearing this outfit. I love the textures with the studs, perforated tights, quilted sleeves and crocheted, fringed poncho. I'm partial to asymmetry, so the irregular cardigan and slanted hem of the dress totally made sense in my mind. Finally, the steampunk glasses served as the cherry on top! :D
