I think this is about as chic as it gets for me. Hmm. Yeah. I'm pretty sure it's all downhill from here. Haha. I remember feeling so fancy when I left the house. As I walked to the car with my partner, I said, "I'm doing my best rich person impression, today. I should fit right in at that hoity-toity brunch place."
My partner just laughed. As it turns out, I ended up getting a lot of stares. Story of my life. Hehe. As usual, I was rushing to meet up with a couple of friends for brunch. My friend suggested the fancy brunch spot and it just so happened that I had this outfit constructed and ready to go for the day. So, I personally felt that it was super appropriate for the venue, but who knows why people stare?
Maybe the thought of a well-to-do person of color baffled them. I was the only black person in the entire restaurant. Maybe it was my crazy hair? Haha. If so, then yeah. I get it. I guess. Maybe it was my outfit? I mean, as elegant as I may regard it, perhaps I should leave room for the possibility that it's also unusual. I've certainly never seen anyone wearing anything remotely close to this. So, there's that.
At any rate, I think I looked pretty great while eating a rather mediocre, over-priced breakfast burrito and somehow managing to avoid getting food all over myself (as is customary when I eat anything, usually). However, can I just say how much I adore this tomato red vintage duster cardigan? Omfg! <3 <3 <3
I bought it at the same time that I bought this vintage black duster cardigan and I just find myself constantly looking for excuses to wear it. I've always wanted a red cardigan and, although I'm having slight difficulties with style ideas, I have absolutely no regrets. It's so cozy and warm. I could live in it.
Overall, I'm really proud of what I created here. It's minimalist, but far from boring, IMO. The red and white really pop against the black hues and the mix of vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines give the outfit a rather modern, artistic feel. Aside from providing a welcome barrier from massively cold winds, the plaid blanket scarf added just the right amount of pattern play to break up the color blocking, too. Yep! This is my fancy brunch outfit. Haha. Hope you like it as much as I enjoyed wearing it! <3
