I can't help feeling like I'm flipping though a vintage magazine and looking at clothing advertisements when I look at these photos. Haha. I wasn't expecting them to look all old timey, but they just...do. O_o o_O I really do like how these turned out, though. I wanted to do this dress justice. It is so beautiful!
In my mind, I had pictured a gaudy and raucous festival when I saw this dress. The points of color made me think of colorful painted lanterns hanging about the limbs of trees at a forest fête. I'm sorry that I couldn't really recreate those circumstances for you here. Though, I think it would be easy enough to imagine the sky above me darkened with pink and purple hues; to see multi-colored lights strung from the trees; children running to and fro; buskers calling out for attention; and in the midst of it all, I sit on the grass with my lone picnic basket, holding a glass of white wine and looking on with a huge grin.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I love what this dress brings out in me. I love the way I feel when I wear it. I feel enveloped in the past. I wonder what kind of woman wore this dress. What was she like? What did she value? Did this dress make her just as happy as it makes me? I sincerely hope so. =)
I'm sure you noticed that I carried a satchel as well as a picnic basket. Admittedly, the picnic basket was just for added effect. I purchased it from a sweet girl in my swap group for a very reasonable price. It's unlined and rickety, but it's my first picnic basket, so I will love it until it inevitably meets its demise. Actually, I have very special plans for it, next month. If you stick around, you may discover more. ;P
I feel like this dress is the kind of dress that deserves to go on a picnic. Unfortunately, it was windy and overcast, so a picnic was just out of the question. Hence, I brought my trusty satchel along and, later on, my partner and I enjoyed some coffee and people watching at one of my usual java joints.
A hard rain fell soon after we had made ourselves comfortable upon window seats at the coffee house. There's really nothing better than sipping hot beverages and watching the rain. Twas a good day. <3
Who knew a dress could make me this happy, though? Seriously!? It is an upside down world. O_o
