I was feeling a bit quirky, so you get umbrella cats and a polka dot bow tie. Hehe. ;P This outfit might have looked better if I hadn't worn the black tights underneath, but it was so cold and windy. Bah! >_<

I'm also wearing a cute thrifted pom pom hat. I found the hat to be a little bit on the tight side, but I do have a bit of a melon head. >_< Haha. Also, I discovered two downsides to having shaved off half the hair on my head. First, chill winds on your scalp really sucks. Second, it's a wee bit difficult to wear a hat and have a snazzy up-do at the same time. So. Yeah. I'm still trying to figure this all out. ;P

I wasn't sure if the navy/brown saddle shoes were too much. They go so well with the chambray dress and the navy pea coat. I thought maybe plain brown or black shoes would be better with the cat socks, but ultimately I just said, 'what the hell.' If I'm going to do the whole academic / nerdy / quirky thing, I might as well go all in. Hehe. Oh and I got the chambray dress from eShakti about two years ago. It was my first custom purchase from them. ^_^ The original had a butterfly print and mandarin collar. I had the print removed; a shirt collar added and the hem extended just below the knee.

Hi, dear Anna, finally here! I loooved all you are wearing, the shoes, the bow tie, the chambray dress and the pom pom hat, and for such a price! I am in love with the socks, cats with umbrellas! You know I like your style and I would live to buy similar socks! Guess what, I had to follow you again on Blloglovin - I say I "had", because I relied on them to send me your new posts. I realized I wasn't getting any, but you commented, so you were active on the blogosphere. What was my surprise to see that Bloglovin deleted y "following"! Now I hope they keep it!

Omgosh! It's OK! *^_^* That kind of thing has happened to me a couple of times and it always sucks, because I feel embarrassed about not leaving comments for such a long period of time and then having to explain to the person, just like you're doing now (and wondering if they'll even believe me or whatever). I think you totally get away with the socks and shoes. The navy in the shoes and the blue umbrellas tie into each other well. Plus, if you're going to go cutesy, it's go adorable or go home lol.

The socks and shoes combo <3 omg > w < love it!!
Those socks are the cutest socks ever.
I like that the cats are designed/drawn in a more vintage style than kawaii. They remind me of the cats from Beatrix Potter's stories.

I love pretty much everything about this outfit, but then again I am an academic so is that any surprise? Seriously though the dress is STUNNING. Brown boots definitely would worked beautifully but I do like the brogues.
