A Kodak Moment & The Communist Party

Hey, it's my birthday, today! What?! I know, you guys! So amazing. :D <3

Today, I am contemporaneously reminded of my mortality and of my incredible oldness. I have been on this Earth for decades. I played with a clunky Polaroid camera as a kid (the birthday themed film was my fav, you guys); I saw the beginnings of the internet (AOL IRC ICQ LOL WTF BBQ); I actually know what "dial-up" is; I know what a "modem" looks like; I know what a "floppy disk" looks like (I had some good games on those); I made mix tapes as a young teen which included greats such as Depeche Mode, Jamiroquai, Janet Jackson & The Pointer Sisters (I had eclectic tastes, shut up! Heh).

I enjoyed roller skates; I went to warehouse raves before they were trendy; I hated my parents; I hated being tall; I hated my feet; I hated my Christian private school; I hated a lot of things actually. Atheism predated the beginning of my menstrual cycles; angst drove me to fill countless notebooks with poetry.

I devoured books like "The Boxcar Children," "Goosebumps" (so cool, you guys and borderline too creepy for kids..); "The Lord of the Rings," "Dragonlance," and various choose your own adventure books; I fell in love with English, Etymology and track and field; I went to college, where I became enamored with Philosophy; while there, I traveled alone to a foreign land; I learned a second language; I became inundated with wanderlust; I saw my future; I went to graduate school and here I am.

I want to say I've got my act together, but I'm only just pretending. :D Haha. I kid..well..sort of. Anyway, enough of that business. I'm just glad to be alive. I have lived to see another day! Hurray! ;P

Let's talk about what I'm wearing, shall we? As you can see, I've got some serious casual layering happening. My last few casual posts have been super boring (as they should be, mind you), but I decided to throw some aesthetic punches, this time. I've got a rad perforated mustard bag, quirky polka dot sneakers with teal laces, my favorite backpack and a pretty hilarious hoodie for good measure.

Underneath it all, lies a wonderfully colorful treat. I'm rather fond of creating more than one look at the same time, as I am sure you know by now. :P This totally amazing retro sweater helped me create a little "kodak moment" of sorts. The sweater, along with the high-waisted jeans, makes me look like some kid from the 70's on her way to class. Nerdy, sexy, cool. That's what I say. Hehe.

I'm also wearing some lovely accessories, which I am sure you all have seen in previous posts, so there's no need to bore you with details. Though, I must say, I love this balloon necklace so much. :D

So, I'm curious..how old do you think I am? There are only wrong answers, so don't worry. Haha. ;D If you paid attention to my rant (and some previous posts), you should have a good range to work with. I'd love to read your guesses, though I won't confirm any of them. ;P Haha. Happy Birthday!!!! Glad to be alive is the best feeling you can achieve on your birthday, not all that crap about getting old.

And as always, you stunned me with your amazing style, that hoodie is adorable! And I love how your paired that colorful ensemble with polka dot sneakers, who would have thought they look so cool!!!!

I remember so much of these things! Based on the music and being out of graduate school, I'd say you were in your late twenties, maybe 27 or 28?

Of course, I'm 27 so if you're old that makes me old too.

As to the outfit- LOVE it. That communist part shirt is hilarious but what I really love is the 70's kid look. The bright, snappy colors and that balloon necklaces (so cute!).

I'm so happy I made you smile with this. *^_____^* <3 My dad is an electrical engineer, so we had all kinds of electronics strewn about the house and we typically had the latest computers and whatnot. We had a treasure trove of keyboards in the garage. The one I'm typing on right now was in there. It's an old IBM model. :D

We had so many floppy disks everywhere, we should have just started using them as coasters. Haha. Thanks to my dad, I learned how to upgrade my own computer. I spent many evenings in my room taking my computer apart and installing stuff. Things are too advanced for me now and I've gotten lazy. I have my partner do all of my upgrades (which he is most happy to do, by the way, as a fellow computer geek hehe).

Your outfits are adorable as usual! The outfit with the retro striped sweater reminds me of those educational programs from the late 70s to mid 80s-- those kind of after school programs with synthesizer sounds to them.

lol at the "Communist Party" shirt. Happy Birthday! From the description, I'm guessing you are near 30 even though you look like a girl who just turned 20.

Hehehe, yeah I had a whole shelf full of those books. Every time my mom when shopping she always brought one home for me, because she knew how much I liked them and it never took me more than a day to get through one of them. So, I was always ready for the next one. :D

Happy Birthday! I have a pretty good idea of your age bc everything from Goosebumps, The Boxcar Children, to Janet Jackson and floppy disks tells me you and I are in the same generation. I thought you were much younger! Take it how you will, but I went out the other day, got carded, and was told I looked like I was still in high school. I wish! I guess we'll appreciate it when we're a little older. =)

Haha. You should enjoy it! I used to get carded all the time when I went to the movies. That was pretty annoying. Having some pimple faced kid question my age when I'm just trying to buy a ticket. Heh.

Soooo many times, my partner and I have gone out to eat and the server would ask me for my ID, but NOT his. We're the SAME age! Haha. It's that stupid beard, I tell ya!

Now, though, I'm a little piqued when I don't get carded at a restaurant. Maybe it's stupid. It probably is, but I usually wonder: do I really look THAT old? Come on people! Look at this baby face! I am clearly up to no good! Haha. I've even had my ID out recently and been told to go ahead and put it back as it wasn't necessary. *Sigh* <3
