I like to think of this as my vintage thrift hodge podge outfit. Hehe. You know those outfits that are largely thrifted and just look kind of...I dunno...mismatched? Well, I'm deliberately mismatched, today.
I'm always thrilled to wear an outfit that is mostly or all vintage/thrift. So, even if it looks thrown together, I wear that haphazard quality like a badge of honor. Hehe. Fashion is like music. I enjoy it when it is mellifluous and when it is intentionally cacophonous. I guess that's why I have such a soft spot for so-called man repellent outfits. ;) At any rate, allow me to walk you through all of the layers!
If you've always wanted to look like an eccentric philosophy professor, but didn't quite know where to begin, then listen up. Hehe. First, you'll need a thrifted, washed out corduroy blazer. Wear that over a thrifted corduroy vest and make sure the colors don't match. This is important. You really want to stick it to the dogmatic over achievers of the fashion world. This is sure to ignite whatever nervous ticks they might have. Just watch the corners of their eyes and mouths twitch uncontrollably. Savor it.
Next, wear a nice thrifted vintage blouse with an obnoxious collar underneath it all, but don't show the blouse. Instead, cover it up with a cute, but casual t-shirt. The mix of formal and casual just might be paradoxical enough to cause someone major discomfort. Let's hope! :D Finally, top it all off with a bright and cheery thrifted vintage skirt that doesn't quite compliment the other garments, but still seems to work in a rather annoying away and voila! You'll find yourself transformed into an off-kilter academic who may or may not be living in her car, but finds solace in reading the Enchiridion by candle light. <3
