Indian Summer

What a gorgeous Sunday! It was 67 degrees and sunny with a cloudless, blue sky. Yes, in the middle of October! It was a true Indian Summer, today. I hear it will get up to the 70's later on in the week. I am happy to enjoy this little respite while it lasts! I hopped on my bike and (yep, you guessed it) headed straight for a coffee shop. No better way to enjoy the great weather than to sip a pumpkin
spice latte in a Halloween-decorated indie coffee joint, am I right? Haha! =P

So, I'm super proud of how well these photos turned out AND of the fact that I took them on my own! Yes, that's right. I packed my tripod and camera along with the usual coffee shop survival kit (iGrado headphones, iPod, dauntingly thick fantasy novel - The Wheel of Time: Part Four!, netbook, cell phone and trusty, eco-friendly Star Trek wallet) and somehow managed not to drop anything on the way.

There's a convenient bike path that goes straight to my favorite coffee place, so I took it at a leisurely pace, enjoying the sunshine and cool breeze. I enjoyed the ride so much that I passed my turn off, by mistake. However, in so doing, I discovered an isolated area with an awesome two-toned brick wall, and I thought, 'Perfect! I'll take my photos there and then congratulate myself with coffee.' =D

Until now, I wasn't confident about taking photos outdoors by myself. It seems so odd to set up a tripod in public and start posing. Haha. It seems more natural when someone is behind the camera. Still, I noticed a certain freedom and confidence that I hadn't felt before. It was actually a lot of fun!

Here's to not getting kidnapped in the process! Haha!

By the way, I should mention that I'm wearing my brand new zipper boots and I love them to death! They're adjustable so they can be worn calf-length, mid-calf or at the ankle, and they have grey plaid lining. I love the bright blue exposed zippers at the back, too! Really interesting and fun! :D

The Sky on My Heart & Yellow Leaves on My Sleeves

I looked outside this morning and I was inspired by what I saw. There was just something about the cloudless blue sky above and the pale yellow and crimson leaves littering the streets below. It was a beautiful, crisp and sunny Fall day and I endeavored to recreate what I saw with my clothing.

I also decided to spend time at one of my favorite coffee shops downtown. If you haven't noticed by now, I spend a lot of my time in coffee shops. Haha. It's kind of a long story.

Anyway, on my way, I took a little detour through the park. =) I felt much like a chameleon while I was there. The colors and patterns of my garments seemed to blend in effortlessly with my surroundings.

While at the park, I found a discreet dirt path under a canopy of still-green leaves. Since I tend to look quite serious in my photos, I thought I would use the path to show my more playful side. =)

The different blue hues in my shirt struck me as the changing colors of the sky with the lone strip of crimson signifying the inevitable evening blaze just before the rising moon. Such a great, versatile piece, I have to say. In my mind, the colors in the top have a temporal aspect to them.

In essence, with this outfit, I wore the sky on my heart and yellow leaves on my sleeves. =)
