Neon Snow & Iconemesis Review

2/11/2014

Fun Fact: Some random dude with a nice camera just decided to cross the street as I was getting my picture taken and take a few photos of me while the photo shoot was going on. Haha. So, if I happen to have a strange look on my face or if you think I look weird, it's because I had an audience. o_O

Oh, hey ya'll! What's happenin'? It's just your friendly neighborhood Anna with another fun style post to share. :DDD I'm also doing a review for a phone case I received from a company in the UK. You can check that out below, but first let's see what's going on with this layered up and kinda quirky outfit!

Picture

A light snow fell all day, so I decided to carry an umbrella instead of wearing sunglasses, this time. :P It's been awhile since I've used it. Click here to see how I incorporated the umbrella into a Fall outfit.
I think the yellow really brightened up the outfit and, when paired with fuchsia, looks almost neon.

Also, you'll notice that I wore my coat with a misaligned hem, again. I think that seems to work better with double breasted coats. It looks a bit less..accidental, I guess? Just putting that out there. Hehe.

Picture

You may recognize the
high waisted faux leather skirt from this post.  Back in December, I used the skirt to create a futuristic and edgy ensemble. This time, I wanted to see if I could wear it in a softer, cuter way. So, I added a fun snowflake mohair sweater and a pair of snowflake tights along with my favorite cat ear hat. I thought the yellow duck on my umbrella was a nice touch, too. Hehe. *^_^*

Picture

I'm also wearing my new ModCloth boots and they're holding up very well. They've become a fast favorite and I'm afraid that I'll wear them too often and annoy you. Haha. I'll try not to overdo it! >_<

Iconemesis Review

Picture
In late January, Iconemesis, a distributor of iPhone cases, contacted me with an offer to do a style collaboration. After doing some research about the company, I was impressed by what I found and I was more than happy to partner with them in an effort to get the word out about their brand. As part of the collaboration, the company representative allowed me to pick out a phone case to style and review.

If you're unaware of Iconemesis, I would recommend thinking of them as similar to Threadless, but instead of t-shirts they do phone cases. They work with some talented artists like Ciara Phelan who designed my iPhone case. Each purchase helps to support these amazing artists and helps to ensure the proliferation of unique ideas.

It was a tough decision, but ultimately I picked the Tiger phone case because the print is just all over the place. It will make you squint with wonder and intrigue or it will make you smile or both. The colors are beautiful and the collage is both mesmerizing and bizarre. When I looked at the case, I saw an intersection of nature, humanity and technology. Obviously, the print really spoke to me and I truly believe it will be one of the most unique phone cases I own.

Picture

Before I got this phone case, I just had a basic, kind of clunky clear plastic case on my iPhone. It definitely did the job, as I've dropped it a couple times (I know, I know! >_<) and it survived the tumbles. While the clear case was effective, it was nevertheless pretty boring. So, I'm really enjoying my new graphic case since it's the first one of its kind that I've had since I got my iPhone, last year.

The Iconemesis phone case is very light, in comparison to the clear plastic case I was using before. It seems to be pretty well constructed
and it fits my iPhone 4S just fine. I was hoping the entire print would be visible on the case, but the print wraps around the phone thereby cutting off some of the artwork. This doesn't really bother me, but I wanted to point that out as something to be aware of when you're looking at the phone case designs on the Iconemesis website. Shipping to the U.S. is just $5.00!

Picture

I think what Iconemesis is doing is fascinating. Though the company has a modest following on Facebook, I think it is certainly off to a great start. I want to thank Iconemesis for inviting me to help out with their project and I wish them and the artists with which they collaborate much success!

Blogger Spotlight #8: My Kingdom For A Hat

Meet Skye of My Kingdom For A Hat

Picture

One of my best discoveries of last year, it was love at first post with Skye. I love her vintage punk style and the way she clashes colors and prints without a care in the world.

Her style is completely open and free; and her no holds barred approach to fashion is utterly intoxicating.

According to Skye, "I am often accused of being a manic pixie dream girl, but I'd like to fancy myself more cerebral than that." From my own experience reading Skye's blog, I can tell you that her styles have both a theatrical and introspective component. Take this first photo, for example. It's dripping with emotion.

The dress and bare feet, the lighting and the knives. There is a palpable depth that is uncommon in a typical fashion blog. Manic? No. Cerebral?

Yes.

I really like the perspective Skye uses in a lot of her photos. It makes you feel as if you're right there with her.

Her styles are genuine, interesting and kaleidoscopic: three words I would certainly use to describe Skye as a person. Each post is fresh and each outfit is joyfully unpredictable.

Other juicy factoids about Skye: She loves tattoos; she's inspired by religious imagery, fairy tales and pin up beauties; she views her body as a canvas (much like I do); and her partner is a steampunk artist and art director. Is this girl cool or what?

Stalk her on Facebook, go read her blog and show her some love! <3
