Here's a track from one of my favorite musical finds. I discovered Weird Tapes a few years back and I've been obsessed with New Jersey native, Dayve Hawk, since then. Hawk used to be the front man for Philadelphia based band, Hail Social. In 2008, he began producing tracks under the Weird Tapes alias. The track above is from the self-released album, "Get Religion." It's dark and mesmerizing.
Since 2009, Hawk has been producing tracks under the aliases Memory Tapes/Memory Cassette. His latest album is "Grace/Confusion" (Oct. 2012). It's a lot different from the Get Religion album. It's not as cerebral and a bit more poppy. You can listen to Track 2 from the Grace/Confusion album below.
I hope you enjoy these tracks. If you want to keep up with Hawk's latest releases, check out his SoundCloud page. It'll be indie all week long, so come on back!
