Happy Wednesday! Here's a juicy morsel from Javelin's latest album, "Hi Beams" (2013). It's an upbeat tune with a palpable disco flavor. You'll dig it! :D Never heard of George Langford and Tom Van Buskirk of Javelin? Check out my previous blog posts about them for a short bio and additional tracks.

This track was a fast favorite when I heard it way back when and it has earned a permanent place in my indie playlists. It's the first track on Soft Powers' self-released album, "Bad Pop" from August 2010. They've got a Facebook page and SoundCloud page, so be sure to visit those. For a short bio and additional tracks, check out my previous blog post about them! More indie on the way! Stick around! Let's face it. Monday sucks balls. It does so without fail. Week after week, month after month. It's pretty much an expert at ball sucking, at this point. You know what makes Mondays better, though? Awesome music! Hehe. I think you'll dig today's track. It's an upbeat and super fun tune from Freelance Whales' 2010 debut album, "Weathervanes." :D It's a rad album, too. Well worth checking out! The band formed in Queens, New York back in 2008. The group, which consists of Judah Dadone (lead vocals), Doris Cellar, Chuck Criss, Jacob Hyman and Kevin Read, found each other through friends of friends and Craigslist, if you can believe it. :P The band name was inspired by the group's life experiences in New York City. According to lead singer, Dadone, "Everybody in New York is a freelancer of something, and we used to be too when we played in the subways." After about a year and a half of playing on subway platforms throughout New York City, the group self released their debut album, "Weathervanes." In September 2010, Twitter used the band's music in a video and songs from the debut album were also used in an NBC sitcom and TV commercials. Needless to say, the band enjoyed immense popularity from the start. That same year, the group kept busy with the release of two singles and an EP. Another EP followed in 2011 and then the band released their second and latest album to date, "Diluvia," in 2012. You can listen to Track 5 below. :D Love this track, man. I'm so happy for these guys and I can't wait to see what they come up with next! Check them out on Facebook and visit their official webpage for tour dates! Enjoy! |
