Song of the Day: Rubenstein - The Function of Z (Chill Out) Signing Off

Rubenstein only has a handful of releases to date, so this will be a short introduction! The track above is from the "Tonecluster" album of June 2000. It's one of my favorite tracks from Jason Rubenstein. In reference to Tonecluster Rubenstein said "I wanted to see if I could get each sound (piano, or drums, or synthesizers) to sit in the listening-space in the way that a beautiful gem sits on a piece of black cloth." He then went on to recommend listening to the Tonecluster album through headphones to get the best experience. You can listen to his tracks on Bandcamp, so make sure you've got headphones handy. :D

Rubenstein released his first album in October 1996. This album is followed by four more, with the latest being, "Distant Early Warning" (June 2001). He hasn't been up to much since then, though Rubenstein did collaborate with another artist to produce a single called, "Wayfaring Stranger" in June 2012. That's all for now! It'll be indie next week, so come on back! ^_^ Have a great weekend!

**Edit:
Word on the street (i.e. in the comments of this post hehe) is that Rubenstein is working on a new project, so be on the look out for that! It will be more along the lines of instrumental prog-rock, than downtempo. I'll let you know more as information develops. In the interim, be sure to check out Rubenstein's SoundCloud page for his latest musings! - 2/6/14

Song of the Day: Chaser - Blue Planet (Ambient/Chill Out)

Happy Friday! This is an oldie, but a goodie. This tune is from
Lars Sandberg and Nigel Hayes' first and only album to date, "Game On!" (1998). It's the perfect track to unwind to on a Friday evening.
Sandberg (Scotland) and Hayes (England) produced music together as Chaser in the mid 90's through 2010. Though they have only a handful of releases, they're all worth checking out! Their latest release is the "Bite The Bullet" EP (April 2010) and it's comprised of three fantastic deep house tracks. Click here to listen to Track 2 from the Bite The Bullet EP. It's super chill and hella danceable!

As for solo projects, it appears that only Hayes has released anything new within the last two years. Though, this partner Sandberg (who produced music under the alias Francois Dubois) has produced some incredible tracks through 2010. Click here to listen to some of his latest tunes!

As for Hayes's latest work,
he released the "Infusion" and "Defusion" EPs in 2013. Track 3 from the Infusion EP is particularly good, so I'll leave you with that!

Enjoy! I've got one more track to share this evening, so make sure you keep checking back! ^_^

So happy to finally be able to share this track with you guys. I wanted to share it back in January of last year, but I couldn't find the full version, only a sampler from Beatport. This is one of my all-time favorite tracks from Don Verbrilli's "Many Coloured Butterflies" album of 2000. It's so damn brilliant and perfect. I never get tired of hearing this song. Click here to learn more about Verbrilli and hear additional tracks!
