I'm signing off with a fantastic house remix of R&B singer Omarion's 2006 single, "Entourage." Be sure to check out Omarion on Facebook! I hope you enjoy this classic tune! Have a fantastic weekend! Happy Friday! I always try to save the best for last and I think this track fits the bill. It's a Daft Punk remix of Track 6 from Modjo's self-titled debut and only album to date from 2001. Modjo is Romain Tranchart and Yann Destagnol of Paris, France. Tranchart moved with his family from Paris to Mexico and then Algeria before settling in Brazil where he learned to play guitar. In time, Tranchart became a huge fan of DJ Sneak, Ian Pooley and Daft Punk. In the late 90s, he released his first house music single, "What You Gonna Do Baby" under the moniker, "Funk Legacy." Tranchart decided to enter the American School of Modern Music in Paris after that, rather than continue to produce as Funk Legacy. You can listen to his 1998 single below. You'll notice the Daft Punk influence. Tranchart's band mate, Destagnol, started out playing the flute and clarinet as a kid. His musical influences growing up included the Beatles and David Bowie. So when Destagnol started to play the drums, he found himself emulating those sounds. After learning to play both the piano and guitar, Destagnol bought a four track recoding machine and began singing and songwriting. In the late 90s, Destagnol met Tranchart and a musical partnership emerged. In 2000, they produced their debut house single, "Lady (Hear Me Tonight)" and a year later they released the debut self-titled album reference above. Modjo was very busy in 2001 and 2002 producing a number of singles and remixes, but things drop off after that. I have no idea what these guys are up to nowadays, if anything, but one thing is for sure: as a musical team, they were a force to be reckoned with. I'll leave you with a fantastic single Modjo produced in 2002 called "On Fire." You'll find the track aptly named! Enjoy and stick around. I've got one more trick up my sleeve for later this evening! |
