Signing off with a fantastic track by Kunde. I loved this track the first time I heard it some years ago and it has become a permanent part of my hip hop playlists. You'll want this in your ears. Give it a listen! :D Not much is known about Kunde other than that he was born and raised in Ghent (Belgium, I believe). He started out beat boxing in 2004 and this led to music production in 2007. He draws inspiration from hip hop icons such as J Dilla and Gang Starr and the name "Kunde" stands for freedom in the native language of Bassa (of Cameroon). It's hard to find a discography, but my best guess is that the track above was produced sometime in 2008. You can check out Kunde's Facebook page for more! Happy Friday! This is the first track on John Yancey's debut album, "Yancey Boys" (2008). It's so perfect for a relaxing day at home. I'd love to be greeted by this track while coming through the front door of my apartment after a long, hard day at work. You'll dig this! I promise! :D The younger brother of J Dilla, Yancey created his debut album with unused music his brother had created. Under the "Illa J" moniker, Yancey released two EPs and a single and that's about it. He seems to be more active these days with the Slum Village and Yancey Boys groups. With Slum Village, he helped to produce two mixtapes and an album in 2013. As a member of the Yancey Boys, he released the "Sunset Blvd." album of 2013 as well as a single that same year called, "Quicksand." You can listen to Track 5 from the Sunset Blvd album below. Check out Illa J's Facebook page for tour dates and his latest beats! Stay tuned for my final track! |
