Andreas Saag of Scandinavia
Swell Session is Andreas Saag of Scandinavia. Yep. That's right. I'm still bringing house music to you from across the globe. Hehe. Saag draws a lot of musical inspiration from jazz as you can see from his collaboration with the legendary songstress Yukimi Nagano. This is Track 3 on the "I See Through You/Gone" EP from 2001. You'll like this one. I guarantee it. ;)
Nagano, who is of Japanese/Swedish descent is an amazing singer. You may recognize her voice from the band Koop (based in England) or from the indie band, Little Dragon, where she is the lead singer. She's incredibly versatile and transitions from jazz to indie to deep house flawlessly. Saag definitely knew what he was doing when he teamed up with her.
Saag produces music under the aliases Swell Session, Stateless, Swing Session and Desha. His latest creation is under his real name and is the result of a collaboration with Cazuma Mori. Together, they released the "Cazuma & Andreas - Nostalgia" 12 inch in November 2012. It may be short, but it packs a wallop. Check out Side A - Nostalgia below.
