This is a wonderful track from Jesper Dahlbäck & Sebastian Ahrenberg's "Midsummer" EP (1999). Dahlback & Ahrenberg joined up to produce music as "Sunday Brunch" in 1999 and they put out some fantastic deep house under that alias through 2003. I have to say, the "Midsummer" EP remains my absolute favorite to this day. It is aptly named, because it is perfect for long, hot summer nights.
Dammit. Summer just needs to get here, already. You can be sure I will be playing more of Sunday Brunch in the sweltering months to come. Give this track a listen. You're going to love it!
Dahlbäck & Ahrenberg seem to have parted ways since 2003 to work on their own projects. Prior to teaming up with Dahlbäck, Ahrenberg created beats under the alias, "Seba," and he continued to do so subsequent to 2003. Ahrenberg's latest release is "Identity" under the Secret Operations label (the same name as the nightclub he started in 1997). Don't expect deep house, this time, though. Ahrenberg's been all about drum and bass for the last several years.
Dahlbäck underwent a similar change in pace, as well. It appears that he is now producing techno and tech-house. His latest release is the "No Control" single on the "15 Years of Drumcode" EP (Jan. 2012).
I love what these guys are up to right now. I get the whole wanting to have their own identities and do their own thing, but man they were explosive as a deep house production team. Maybe one day they'll team up again? That would be so rad. :D For more Sunday Brunch tracks, visit their Beatport page.
