This week's indie picks are comprised of many ups and downs, but it's going to be a joyful ride, promise! :D First up, is a super chill tune from Darren Williams' February 2011 EP, "Bedroom Joints."
Based in Manchester, Williams caught a break in 2010 when his self-released beat tape, "Volume 1," caught the attention of Pitchfork, SPIN Magazine and BBC Radio 1. Thereafter, he went on to release several EPs, a slew of remixes and another short album called, "Rogue Cho Pa" (Jan. 2011). Williams draws inspiration from house music and hip hop, which you may appreciate in Track 1 below.
Rogue Cho Pa is Williams' latest album to date, but early this year he released a four track album consisting of edited tracks by greats such as Anita Baker and Ella Fitzgerald, as a thank you to his fans. You can listen to it here. Check out Star Slinger's SoundCloud for more tracks and downloads and be sure to stop by his Facebook page to get tour dates. I'd love to see Williams play live! Enjoy!
