Love this track! I think it's perfect for this week of breaks and 2-step. It's from Virgil Howe's debut EP, "Bullit / Psychotronic" (2004). Not a whole lot is known about Howe. He is described as a "mysterious figure in the British underground music scene." He released four more EPs between 2004 and 2007.
His latest album, "Geniac" has no release date, as far as I can tell, and it is regarded as the "album that never was, but will be." The track list is available on-line and the album appears to be a compilation of older tracks going as far back as 2004, but with some newer material mixed in. Here's Track 4:
It seems like the Geniac album had the potential to be an awesome mix of hip hop and breaks, but it wasn't particularly well received by music critics. I don't know what Howe is up to now, but he released quite a few singles between 2008 and 2010. You can sample those tracks on his MySpace page.
