I'm getting the week off to a great start with this jazzy atmospheric drum and bass track from Skanna. This one's an oldie, but a goodie from John Graham's 1993 EP, "Heaven." This track is timeless, IMO.
Sometimes, you gotta know where you've been, to appreciate where you are. :D For me, it really doesn't get much better than this. This is atmospheric drum and bass at its finest. Deep, gritty and soulful. The vocals are top notch and appropriately sparse. It's no wonder that this track has a permanent place in my drum and bass playlists. Give this one a listen and you'll see what I mean.
Originally from Britain, Graham made a name for himself in the early 90's drum and bass scene. He released his first breaks/drum and bass EP, "Intimidator" in 1992 and the "Heaven" EP arrived a year later. Graham steadily released EPs and singles through 1995, then dropped off the face of the Earth.
He re-emerged in 2008 with a sort of greatest hits collection followed by the "Until The Night Is Morning / All You Wanted " EP of 2009. It features two tracks Graham put out in 1993 and 1994 respectively. However, it appears that Graham hasn't done much else after that, which is a shame. His tunes r0x0r.
I'm leaving you with the first track of Graham's 12 inch from 1994 entitled, "Until The Night Is Morning." I hope he will continue to make music! He's left a considerable amount of quality tunes in his wake, so check out his Last.fm page for more tracks! It'll be drum and bass all week long, so come on back!
