Keeping it classy with a fantastic, cerebral hip hop tune. It reminds me of something that Knxwledge or Flying Lotus would produce. This is Track 2 from Shigeto's 2012 album, "Lineage."
Zach Saginaw is the mastermind behind Shigeto. Shigeto is Saginaw's middle name as well as the name of his grandfather. He chose the name, Shigeto, as a tribute to his Japanese heritage.
Saginaw grew up listening to old Motwown and jazz records. He started playing the drums at an early age and spent six years studying jazz with three of those years in New York City and the other three in London. Thereafter, he moved back to Brooklyn and began creating soulful, instrumental hip hop.
Saginaw released his first album, "Full Circle" in 2010. Four EPs, several singles, some DJ mixes and another album, "Lineage" (2012) followed. The Lineage album is Saginaw's latest album to date. That same year, he released the supremely chill "Huron River Drive" EP. Track B1 of that EP is below.
