Rubenstein only has a handful of releases to date, so this will be a short introduction! The track above is from the "Tonecluster" album of June 2000. It's one of my favorite tracks from Jason Rubenstein. In reference to Tonecluster Rubenstein said "I wanted to see if I could get each sound (piano, or drums, or synthesizers) to sit in the listening-space in the way that a beautiful gem sits on a piece of black cloth." He then went on to recommend listening to the Tonecluster album through headphones to get the best experience. You can listen to his tracks on Bandcamp, so make sure you've got headphones handy. :D
Rubenstein released his first album in October 1996. This album is followed by four more, with the latest being, "Distant Early Warning" (June 2001). He hasn't been up to much since then, though Rubenstein did collaborate with another artist to produce a single called, "Wayfaring Stranger" in June 2012. That's all for now! It'll be indie next week, so come on back! ^_^ Have a great weekend!
**Edit: Word on the street (i.e. in the comments of this post hehe) is that Rubenstein is working on a new project, so be on the look out for that! It will be more along the lines of instrumental prog-rock, than downtempo. I'll let you know more as information develops. In the interim, be sure to check out Rubenstein's SoundCloud page for his latest musings! - 2/6/14
